I am having some trouble id'ing a front high pinion ford dana 44. I know post '77 fronts were hp rc and I need to know if mine is in order to buy gears. I have been to the dana expert site and patooyee but no luck finding the bom. If you could tell me if this axle is reverse cut or not.
Details of axle:
bom=610049-5
has disc brakes
high pinion
coils
has the number 072 cast on the bottom of the diff
id tag=350 D8TA TE
ummmm if the pinions up high its a reverse cut. That's how they get up there.

350 D8TA TE means 3.50 gearing, made in 1978. It's what you're looking for.

Yes, it is a HP/RC front end, 1978 1/2 F-150 part time t-case.

By the way the correct term is Reverse Spiral, all the others are slang only used outside Dana.

High pinion = Reverse cut
Standard pinion = Standard cut
