there was nothing  shitty ammo selection, overpriced AR uppers, half a wall dedicated to Nazi stuff :shaking: one deal I had no cash for: Imbel FAL on Imbel non-gear receiver with pristine bore for $600 :(

I left with:
AR lower $100
FAL folding charging handle $5
and one of those blingity buckles like on the $90 AR sling  $15

I agree nothing special. I left with a drop leg holster and an molle DBL 9MM pouch (10.00).

I always laugh about the "Nazi" wall. Idiots. About 95% of that junk is fake. With the right guidebooks and experience, it's possible to identify the real stuff from the fake. More fake Nazi gear has been made in the last 62 years, than in the entire 1930-1945 era. Suckers.

The problem is that most of the WWII stuff for sale is "authentic", just like that cheap box of "authentic" HK receivers, and the "authentic" Pakistani made ninja swords...

Sorry to hear your trip didn't go better. I hate gunshows these days. Too many wannabe commando's, know it all's, and suck ups. That and overpriced garbage abounds. Every once in awhile though, you hit that diamond in the rough. That's enough to keep me addicted.

Bummer.

That Nazi stuff is at every show in the area, possibly the world. At first it was "neat" as in "Hey look at that". Then it became old, then it became a waste of space. I have nothing against Nazi crap, but most of that crap on "display" is just that, CRAP. If I wanted a Hitler Youth knife I'd go find one and buy it, same for the patches. I didn't go to a gun show to see some middle aged fuck's collection of "real" Nazi crap. :shaking:

I skipped it and went to Dick's after work.

I walked out with this plus the true-glo sights, scope, and case for less than 350.00. It's just a usual Mossberg 535.

Sweet, need to get another fun n' gun setup one of these days so you can test it out. :smokin: Once work slows down mid February we should get another one one setup.

I'm gonna try to test it out while in GA for class.

Sounds good, I've just got to see what my schedule looks like. I'm leaving for Atlanta next Sunday and will be gone for 2 weeks. Two weeks later, I'm supposed to go to Canton OH for 2 weeks, and then 3 or so weeks later, go back there, for 2 weeks, for more classes.

Too true. :D

I went to a gunshow at the Contra Costa fairgrounds in Antioch, Ca back in the early 90's and saw a big display with a bunch of that stuff.

Now, if it was purchased for a collection of historical significance, including other Allied and Axis gear, it might have been cool, but these folks were National Socialist wannabe's.

As I walked by, a grouchy old white guy behind the desk said hi, while his old wrinkly wife came around the desk and shoved a flier into my hand. Any guesses? White Power of course. A lovely mixture of neo-Nazi philosophy, Klan checklists, and an general ode to Hitler. Unbelievable. I had some words to say to those folks, but they were dead serious about the whole deal. I'm 6'5" white, blond hair, blue eyes, and look as German as they come. Obviously he thought I was recruitable material. Not likely.

I went to work that afternoon and told an old coworker of mine about the fliers and he laughed. I asked him if he knew what was in them. He laughed again and said, "Hell yeah. I used to hand them out all the time..." Apparently the Jaycees was a front for some other club activities on the side back in the 1950's and 60's in the Antioch area. After that incident, he told us all sorts of stories from his "good old days". I have never met a more prejudiced person in my life.

That was an educational afternoon. Damn.

I'm bringing my 12ga, my AK, and my Smith and Wesson 9mm.

Do you all know of any range where I could shoot the shotgun, say on Monday the 7th, while I've got nothing going on? I'm just looking to get it sighted in is all.

Know any place with *cheap* 7.62x 39 ammo?

I'm gonna check a place by the office but otherwise I'm paying 5 and change for 20 packs of Brown Bear Russian Surplus at a local shop.

We hit the gun show in Houston again this weekend. I didn't find my smoking deal on that .357 I eyeballed last time, so I picked up a new Taurus all titanium .38 spcl for under $400. Now I just gotta find a good way to carry it, the cheapy ankle holster I bought starts to slide downward after a few minutes of walking. :(

Where are you staying. Most ranges here let you shoot slug.

Here is the largest one:

http://www.oakwoodsportsmanslodge.com/shootingrange.html

Its 40 yds, $10 a day , and 45 mins NE of Atlanta. No pistol grip rifles though
