So what kind of guy is an "MT/R kinda guy"??? I see some of the baddest wheelers running MT/Rs...and IMO I think they are a bad ass tire and would run them myself if they had a 37x12.5x16.5 MT/R (read not regular MT):D:D:D

I'll run MTR's as soon as I can get a 44x17.50-15 with a six-ply sidewall.... :p
I'd settle for anything between that and a 54x19-15... close enough is close enough.
Realistically, the MTR's are a good compromise tire--effective on most trails, still reasonable on the street, etc. They just don't come big enough for what I want.

What's with everyone's obsession with the boggers? They suck unless you spens 10 hours grooving them!
rochog 06-30-2002, 12:19 AM Boggers are the:nuke: I dont know what you are :smokin:
MR4WD 06-30-2002, 01:08 AM I run 44" boggers, on mud and generally everything else but rocks (watch the flaming now)
The street traction is terrible. They run sideways and slide out on corners, so cutting em up to get more lateral traction may be an option. They spin pretty easy from the stoplights too... Who buys em for the street though? They're not that bad as far as ride and drive goes either. 65-70 MPH no problem, reasonably quiet, handle and ride nice.
I had 40" swampers last year and man, these boggers are THE tire in mud. I go places now, with the same engine (different tranny and diff gears though) in 2wd that I'd be overly hesitant to go in 4 wheel drive last year. If you've got the power to spin them fast in deep sand, then consider them there too... (they displace an awful lot of earth awfully fast so watch for dragging diffs) My truck weighs an awful lot, but they seem to float an awful lot better under very little power than the swampers did. I had some problems in some rather difficult trail sections... On the way back through, I had the tires aired down to 8... from 20. I'd say it was an easily 100 percent gain in traction. I run beadlocks too, so that's something to consider. There's downsides to everything though, like for example cost... Wear and tear (you couldn't call them a daily driver), later traction as I've stated before... And I broke a 14 bolt axle shaft today too. You've gotta have the drivetrain to back them up.
I don't know if the rock boys like em or not, but I can't see me buying another style of tire. Boggers are the only way for me...
I've heard great things about MT/R's... guy with a jeep and Dana 44's, 6 cylinder and 35" MT/R's can hack an awful lot of places that I didn't think he could, plus they run great on the street...

That is what I will run from now on unless I get some 33 Boggers in a good deal or something. I live in Western Washington state where the traction can get a little slippery!

Give me a break :shaking: We whooped every part of Tellico in the competition TJ running 37" MT/Rs. Nothing like driving up guardrail when it's covered in snow/ice. Try to get a bias tire to heat up enough to do that. By the way, we paid for them and ditched 38" TSLs to run them. I don't know what competitors you talked to

mt/r is better on street (obviously), and good on wheeling to. and he asked for a "GENERAL" tire.. (ie decent in everything).
MT/R's are a good tire for all around. They aren't a SX, but they work good for the DD/trail rig guys. They flex pretty good for a radial, IMO
SeaBass44 07-01-2002, 10:52 AM Originally posted by LAME

WTF does this mean? radials always flex better, cause of the softer sidewall then a bias........all that said, I still like my boggers, but I need bigger:D..............bigdude are 32"'s to big or should I get bad ass 31"'s? where do you get bad ass 31"'s? I think you should stick with bad ass 31s. That way you get less sidewall roll and don't have to woryy about spilling your blinker fluid when you're off-camber. I hate when that happens. But with 31s you are more likely to drag your muffler bearings then with massive 32s. I guess it's six one way and half dozen the other

Hey not many people run radials around here
Nikkon 07-01-2002, 01:54 PM I'm not trying to put you down here at all, but it sounds like your rig won't be seeing many hardcore trails or obstacles. If this is the case (ignore me if I'm wrong) I would probably suggest a set of BFG MTs for ya. They're not the best tire by any strecth of the imagination, but they last a long time on the street and do well in average trail runs. Just my .02.:D
ROKWALKER 07-01-2002, 02:21 PM The swamper guys seem to hate the MT/R's. Maybe it's due to the fact that with swampers they can be more of a trail poser. :flipoff2:
Get MT/R's for more versatility and probably twice the tread life. More rubber on the ground means more mileage.

You would be amazed at what a competant driver can do on 33's. Besides, compared to the size that was previously on my Scout II, those corectly sized TSL 33's seemed fucking huge!
Also "big league" was with reference to the traction of the Swampers...not the size man.
You must have an issue with your size Mr. BigDude:question:
