Hopefully these will work...I don't post pics very often...
It is a standard jd2 manual bender mounted vertically and powered by a HF air over hydro long ram. I have not used it too much yet, but what little I have it works good, way better than having a stationary manual unit. With the vertical configuration it is a little better on the floor space that it takes up. Everything on the stand was recycled materials from other things so thats why its made like it is. The one major downside so far is that different dies have the tubing start at a different angle relative to the ground...ideally it would start horizontally and bend up, but it works as is for now...possible an angle adjustment on the thing in the future...

I like how its bolted to the stand so in theory you could convert it back to a mounted flat style like its originally ment to be.
Clean looking shop by the way

Looks nice

Are the angle peices on the base with the nuts welded on so you can screw down bolts or "feet" to keep it from moving around while in use?

Looks like places to mount leveling bolts to me....

Yea, the angle iron/ large nuts are for leveling bolts...the first version didn't work too well, so I am going to come up with a better design. The shop is clean because I just cleaned it up before the pics...at the end of the weekend.

how many deg. does it go on 1 pin?

WD 40= tube lube...right at hand where it won't dissapear.

I haven't used it in a while, but I think it will almost go 90 deg. before re-pinning the die. I'll take a look at it tomorrow and see for sure.

Only using 3 "Feet" would make it easier to balance & level out.

Dan,

Could post a pic of the cable hanger setup you have on the front of your Power Mig? (Second picture in the original post.)

Thanks!

I've been searching threads for months now trying to come up with the nicest bender I could have for a reasonable amount of money and really like what you've done here. The thread is a couple years old & I would like to hear how you like it, what you changed and what you would do different if you started over from scratch with a bender, die , & ram.
I pulled the trigger today on a Pro tools 105 hd package from PBB Vendor TMR Customs got the package minus the handle, stand, & ratchet gear with a 1.75" 6" rad. 240* die shipped for half of what the ProBender 4 would have cost. Plus another $110 for the ram shipped plus any odds & ends. The materials will be scrap I have laying around other than maybe buying a piece of tube for the upright. I know this will cost more than I figured as it always does but I also want a little satisfaction in building at least part of it myself.
I'm not knocking the ProBender and came close to buying it several times but for the price difference I want to build the cart myself.
I bought what I bought after months of research & apples to apples comparing.
I would be interested in what others have done with simular gear though. Thanks-Dave

I'll go ahead and just quote this since I'm wondering the same thing.

Some pics of mine, that was inspired by yours (Dan's). Kind of a hybrid of yours, the Pro32, and the gottrikes design. It was designed around the cylinder that I already had. It's not quite done, but it took it's first test drive today -

I still need to buy and mount casters, and figure out a spring return for the cylinder. I also am going to open up the lower mounts to make it a bit more forgiving and let the cylinder find it's happy place better. Weld on some die holders and lube holder cup (I really like that detail on yours) and paint it, and then bend some roll cages. :)

This is mine. it folds to vertical with the loosening of the bolt.

the base weights almost nothing so i can throw the whole bender, die and all in the back of a truck by myself.

does that return spring actually pull it back, or do you have to assist?

it pulls it back quick. 1/4 turn on the knob is all you need.
