I've got a Lincoln PRO100 (stop laughing) Welder and, well i went to use it today, and it wouldn't work. THe fan comes on, there power going through it, the trigger is working (according to my multimeter), but there's only about 1.3V getting into the switch from the power supply. It looks like that tap on the transformer also runs the fan (which DOES come on) but i just can't fucking figure it out.
Anyone here a Lincoln technician? I need free advice. If i was going to actually spend money on it, well, it'd be miller time. But i don't have money.

wing nuts come loose on your um wires by the feed roller?

First thing to check is the diode rectifier. Its after the transformer and the last major component before it goes to the hand piece. Pull the diode plates apart and check the diodes for continuity with your multimeter. The diodes should only work one way.

mine did something like this . it was just stuck between heat seatings it was not in one range or another . did you try to move your settings at all when it did not turn on? it was really strange:rasta:

I looked at the wiring diagram, basically, the 24v that powers the control board on the welder (which powers the trigger) comes from a secondary winding on the motor for the fan. It's putting out about 1.3v, so i'm guessing that one of the windings shorted, and it's massively dropping the current.
Hopefully i can find some kind of 24v AC transformer, and just slap it inside, and hopefully everything will be peachy, should be cheaper than buying a new fan with this secondary winding on it.
The more i look at this welder, the more i want a miller. anyone wanna give me a millermatic 210 for a kidney or a lung? a couple feet of intestine?

Same thing happened to me once...CHECK THIS FIRST!;)

of course i checked that, fiddled with all connection, tried plugging it into different outlets, various "technical taps"
i unhooked the secondary winding from the fan, and hooked it up to a 24V lighting transformer. everything worked beautifully after that.
callin lincoln tomorrow to price a new fan motor, thinkin of just buying a 24v transformer and puttin it in there though. still don't know what killed it.
