Well I started wheeling on Friday. We decided to wheel all of the trails that we haven't been on before. We started with a trail that took off of Claw hammer called Miracle Mile (or something like that) and ended up at the begining of FOH (Full of Hate). The Marlin Crawler F-Toy cruised right up with little trouble, though these had prooved to be REALLY HARD trails.
At the end of FOH, I was driving up the return road from Wrecking Ball and decided to gass it a little when all hell broke loose under the hood. It sounded like a huge fuel knock. I checked it out a little closer and figured that the head gasket blew between #3 and #4 cylinder.
I was kind of bummed because I planned to be out there until Tuesday and figured that I would be riding my quad for the rest of the weekend. Well, thanks to my fellow Bender Aaron for helping with a little modivation, we decided to tear it apart at camp and see if we could fix it.
We tore into it and found that the head gasket was infact blown. I called my wife at home and had her go to Napa to get the parts before they closed. I called my buddy (Mike Kalinowski) and he brought out the parts and stayed to help us get it running.
2 hours later, it was running great.
We ended up wheeling "Full of Love" (a REALLY hard trail), Chocolate Thunder, Resolution, and Turkey Claw for the weekend and other than a problem with some knuckle studs the Marlin Crawler rig ran like a top.

Misery Mile was the name of that first one ;)

Did you drive or winch the last obstacle on full of love? Did anyone drive the first obstacle on the same trail?

The night before we (me, Air Ride and Matt) all got denied on the rock, figured it must hane been a temp issue with lack of traction.

 Hit that drift just a little too hard, and bellied, bad. Otherwise not bad for a run from 8k to 10.5k. Had to pull rope that time. (Whole reason I got out!) Actually, doing this in a buggy is much better, the snow doesnt get frozen the the windshield, no noisy heater blowing, no snow blocking vision. Just hit the snow, and it blows on through. Cold enough out, it doesnt melt, even when you sit in it!

Seriously though, dress appropriately, and its a blast. Still got to get the tire presure right, started at 3, dropped to 2, and barely budging the sidewalls! :shaking:

This is 20' past that drift.

I wheeled my non-conformula in the snow a lot and even in 18" + blizzards on two occassions. You hit the nail on the head with the dressing for it comment. I never got cold, but I'm sure the headers adn big exhaust on the 350 helped a bit

Spent news years out at my inlaws house in JV. I didn't break anything on the trails at the hammers. But one afternoon out playing around in a canyon on the other side of JV I managed to replace a shock with a rock.

how much travel does the rock have compared to the bilstein:D

When the trail was first cut there was an obstacle right at the beginning of the trail kind of a bowl that dropped down with a BIG rock in the middle and had a bypass to the left. So that is drivable now?

thanks for the input, table mesa is full of trails that are all 5+ . I was just giving the cali boys a rash of poop about the hammers, we are all lucky to have great wheeling at our back door. hope it stays that way

I think it all has to do with the number of rigs on the trail. There are a hundred rigs at the Hammers some weekends and I've never seen more than 15 in my trips to Table Mesa.

I agree, I hate trails with too many rigs. I trail ride for fun not to be trapped behind some nuckle head thats stuck or broke. Some how I think we arent on the same page with this one but hey we can agree to disagree. Your post about taking the lead shot out of the bags was funny stuff.
