Has anyone ever done a 10 bolt into CJ axle swap or seen website of that swap? I just picked up a 10 bolt front and 12 bolt rear for song and am lookin for info now. Thanks.:usa:

Shouldn't be any different that any Dana 44 swap. Dana 44 knuckles will bolt on to the 10 bolt if you want hi-steer.

gonna run full width? Issues are steering and perches, but steering should just be a matter of a different drag link length

I know a guy that put a 10 bolt front in his CJ, he just moved the perches outboard a little bit. If you can weld, it's not a problem. As for the 12 bolt, if I were you I'd rather go with a 6-lug semi floating 14 bolt. It's stronger. I got one for sale too

6 lug 14 bolt??? I am interested in this. got any more info on it, like width? I don't want to run full width but I am runing 61.5" in the front, so around 63" would be ok.

give me some more info on it. and if it is really good I have some family coming down for the holidays from Chapel hill, don't know if they would be passing you on the way to atlanta, GA but ......

You will need to outboard the springs on a cj0-7 or have the axle cut down to macth your spring.

Personally a 10 bolt and 12bolt compo is not worth the time, they are both very weak axles. 12 bolt being c clip etc..

This is a SF 9.5 14 bolt. 33 spline, c-clip axle

The 10/12bolt combo sure beat the strength of a dana 30, amc model 20 combo. Since I'm not into hardcore rock crawling, I figure that they will be fine. Thanks for all the input so far.:usa:

I think the 10-bolt front is a decent choice, comparable to the Dana 44, only easier to work on (don't have to remove ring gear to get the spiders out) but the 12 bolt rear is a dumb move, the c-clip axle design is just not good for what we do. The semi-float six lug 14 bolt is a little stronger, but still c-clip, and not many lockers available. If you don't think you need eight lug (real 14 bolt), look for a late 80's Jeep J-truck, some had rear Dana 44's, similar width to full size Chevy, and 6-lug. Even a six lug flanged AMC 20 from a J-truck would be better than the 12 bolt Chevy. Some early ('62-'66) Chevy trucks came with rear Dana 44's, but they are narrower than the later truck axles (around 63"-65")
