don't know why but I talked to a cop in nevada and they are not a street legal. even if I put all the stuff on it to make it legal he said I still could not regster it. You might be able to get over on the DMV if you have proof it was regestered in AZ. good luck and let me know how it truns out

Be careful taking cops words on what the laws are. From personal experience most don't know actual laws and get it wrong just as much as they get it right. Best thing is to look them up yourself and see what they actually say.

Can you legally register/plate them in CA in the first place? If so, then I would say that it might be easier to go about getting it done if it already was previously registered in another state. If the answer is no to legally registering them in CA, I think you'll be looking for trouble.
I'm not sure on the side by sides, but there are only two states (and a possible third) that I am aware of that has provisions to register ATVs for road use in. One being AZ and the other being SD.

I would think the answer is no for CA. In AZ. you can register your buggy for street use but not in CA. the CHP would be the ones to ask in cali

Not going to work in CA. Even if you can get a DMV office to slide it through, it won't last.

I have seen them on the street. They can be registered in CA but there are restrictions as to where you can drive them. It falls in the same category as a golf cart. city streets with under 25 speed limit. Do a google search for CA motor vehicle laws or contact a dmv office.

The MSO being stamped "For Off-Road use only" throws a bit of a problem into legally registering them . If you did slide it by in one state then retitle it in another it might work. Sort of like "cleaning" a salvage title.
The closest legal thing to do here in Tx is to put an orange triangle on it and follow rules for Ag equipment.

The problem with registering them in CA is the engine does not qualify for street legal emissions.
