Curious to know if anyone has purchased the Kobalt Aluminum tool chest that Lowes is carrying?

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=258180-55738-LW41SS07-BT1&lpage=none

It seems pretty stout and I like the double sliders on the large base drawers. Any opinions?

I am looking at a box, as well. I looked at this one yesterday, and it's nice, because it has a top I can see into. Being a little on the short side, this is an issue for me. That chest seems pretty well put together, from what I saw.

I have the box in my shop right now. The fit an finish could be better, but if I was going to nit pick, I would buy another snap on box. The box is slap full right now and holding together just fine. My only real complaint is that the drawers could stand to be a little deeper.

By the way, that price is just for the bottom roller. The top box is another $499 or so...

Still not bad for what you get.

Here they are selling out the top boxes for around $300. If you got a second can you measure exactly how wide your top box is? I've been looking for a top box but it needs to fit my craftsman lower. Lowes site says 41" but that may be rounded.

I'll measure when I get out there around lunch.

If you are looking at the big one, it is 41 inches wide. But they are built with an inset lip that sits into the lower cabinet. It may work for you anyway but just a heads up since my craftsman lower boxes are built with a lip and the upper is flat.

I just got the set and they are nice.

And they are Stainless Steel, not aluminum. Very heavy duty castors, nice cover that will cover both boxes, nice anti slide drawer inserts. They have flush mounted flip out hangers on the sides for items such as drop lights and a surge protected power strip built in.

I looked at the costco unit and liked these better. They have a 3 year warantee.

I had them order one in for me. They sold out of them over the holidays. I've looked around quite a bit and I was most impressed with the fit and finish on that one for the price. I'll be picking up the base and top this week.

I am going to have to call them and get a refund of the difference on the top since I just bought it a full price 3 weeks ago. :smokin:

I got the bottom for $199 since it was a floor model with a small ding in the back :smokin:

i have it....it is a great box for the money..definitely higher quality than the craftsman stuff and it is a couple hundred cheaper. it's no snap on, but then again its a tenth of the price. the only thing i'm frustrated with is that the full width middle drawer is only 3 1/2 inches rather than a full 4" like i assumed so it would fit my stand up socket trays....no biggie i just put my sockets in the top

I ended up with the large base and top in the SS. If I'm not mistaken, the base used to have 4 sliders, not 2, on the bottom drawers.

I'm happy with the box except for 2 things:
1) There's a huge sticker on the inside of the lid that's a pain to remove.

2) The top drawers are not quite deep enough.
