: Rover team for King of the Hammers race
Jeff Knoll 01-04-2008, 08:54 AM Just thought I would drop you guys in the Rover forum a line and let you know " West Coast Rovers" will be fielding a team for the invite only King of the Hammers race.
Carey Stiener, and Eddie Bostock, will race a Rover Buggy in the up coming Media event. There will be extensive live internet coverage of the race.

Jeff Knoll 01-04-2008, 10:20 AM I have not seen it. Maybe its a secret, and I let the cat outta the bag?
Either way they are racing, Drop them a line. I know Carey does not do the internet thing at all. I'm not sure about Eddie.
Discosaurus 01-04-2008, 10:41 AM Carey Stiener has come a long way since the days of bashing that Defender in the Twist Off...
DiscoDino 01-04-2008, 11:54 AM Cool - KOH is going to be wicked!
Jtisdale 01-04-2008, 01:47 PM Carey Stiener has come a long way since the days of bashing that Defender in the Twist Off...
Odd comment. I didn't witness the Twist Off personally but have wheeled with Carey enough in the past to know she can do and will attempt some things many other guys won't in a vehicle.
As far as the Hammers race is concerned, I'm sure she will do just fine...something about racing the Baja 1000 on a motorcycle in like 79 comes to mind. Personal experience on the way back from Behind the rocks side by side on a dirt road at 50mph inches apart, she taking the inside line into 12" tall baby head boulders as we enter a downsloping right hander hammer down tells me she will hold her own.
Tis
Leafsprung 01-04-2008, 01:55 PM She dumps money in a truck faster than anyone Ive ever seen
Jtisdale 01-04-2008, 02:01 PM Good luck to Eddie and Carey, and have fun!

Carey didn't bash her truck at the Twist Off. I personally pushed her truck away from rocks that were threatening to punch her side windows out. I don't think she abuses things on purpose. She is one of the few drivers I respect and would trust with my life. She can drive like a bat out of hell, but she's not crazy.
Jeff Knoll 01-04-2008, 07:21 PM Not sure of the exact dates, but I think she was the 1978 AMA national champion and 1979 world champion. Inducted into the AMA hall of fame about that time, and one of the first women ever inducted. She also raced in the La rana desert series and of course the Baja. I have wheeled with Carey a few times over the lat 10 years and she can out drive most every one I know. Great person all around. We are excited to have her and I expect she and Eddie will represent the Rover fans well.
I would like to share a story she told me and would never come out and say it because she is too humble.
Carey was cruising down the free way in traffic when a guy in a van yelled his cell phone number out the window. The guy wanted to know about her F350 $G front bumper. He wanted one for his van and spent a lot of time in Baja. They traded names and the Guy says I know who you are, your that Motorcross Chick............ It was motorcross legend Ricky Johnson.:D
Keith Armstrong 01-04-2008, 07:45 PM I had a gal in the office a few months ago ... she saw some of the Rover photos and said, "Hey, my cousin has one of those. Maybe you know her? Her name is Carrie."
This was in Des Moines... small world.
KAA
Buckon37s 01-04-2008, 08:35 PM Carey can out-drive just about anyone on this board. And she is not crazy at all. She is technical and very skilled. She does not destroy things, but knows where the line is and snuggles up to it.
She is not driving her rig, she will be in Eddie's recently completed duggy. Eddie is a true friend, and his truck is a work of art. All the luck in the world in this event! I would have killed to be invited.

DiscoDino 01-11-2008, 03:11 PM 2 Rover out of 55 trucks? that's like 4% presence...quite good :)
Jeff Knoll 01-11-2008, 03:42 PM Matt Peterson will not be in a Rover as far as I know.
DiscoDino 01-11-2008, 04:18 PM 2% is still good enough :flipoff2:
Buckon37s 01-12-2008, 02:09 AM Were running everything next weekend (19, 20 , 21). If anyone can make it, your more than welcome. I have room in the toyhauler for 2 more. I don't know how many people here are in Cali. Just no trail-tampons please, we need Carey to get some seat time.
Cheers
DiscoDino 01-14-2008, 07:28 AM Wish I could...I'm on the other side of the continent :(
