I'm looking for information about running the Con over the Fourth of July holiday and am hoping someone can help me out. We were just in Placerville this weekend for a wedding and cannot believe how awesome it is! A couple of questions: Where can we park a truck and trailer as close to the trailhead as possible..Jeep is not street legal? How much gas do I need to get into the good parts (the sluices) and back..Jeep has small cell? Is Placerville the access to Loon Lake? Thanks Jody

Loon lake is about an hour - hour and a half (depending on how fast you drive) from Placerville.
You can park your truck/trailer at the Loon Lake dam, right at the trail head.

Its about 1/2 hour up hwy 50 from Placerville to the turn off for Icehouse them from there its about another 30 to 45 min to the trail head at Loon but get there early if you want to park the trailer at the base of the Dam I've seen trailers parked on trailers on holiday weekends but don't worry theres always somewhere to park back on the road. My cruiser will use about 8 to 10 gallons to go in and out of Little sluice and that weekend you'll be lucky if you get any farther for just a one day trip an still get out at a reasonable time.
