"Each dolly has four swivel casters to hold up to 1000 lbs. Move your project cars backwards, forwards, even sideways! Made of formed steel with 3-1/2'' cast iron wheels with ball bearing swivels.
* Overall size (each):15-1/4'' x 23-1/4''"
anyone have a set of these?
any guesses if they'd hold the buggy up?

i have to get the buggy outtah the shop tomorrow somehow. problem is theres a immobile van i nthe way of its door. so i have to slide it over into the other bay to get it out the other door. i can put it on the dollies without the wheels and tires to keep the weight down if i need to.

I saw those yesterday and was thinkin bout pickin some up. But I looked at the width of the dollie. I think your tires would be too wide, and cause the "braces" to have unwanted weight on them (all of the weight probably) and nah it wouldn't hold up. But try it out and see what happens?
Ah didn't even bother to look and see it was a buggy. I'd bet you would be fine. No way they could hold my 1 ton CUCV though.

Garage rollers, your tires are too wide and will collapse the dolly I would assume. I would go with professional furniture dollies with a 2X4 or two added to span the weight and you are going to find better casters on them. Try to find a furniture warehouse that is going out of business. I just bought 6 of them for $15 a piece with bad ass casters. My shit is 6K lbs, I will drop a tire on one tonight and let you know how they hold.

Get bigger ones.

They are wide enough for both tires on my 53 Ford dually to fit. And make the little ones look like toys.

I have 2 sets. The first set I bought worked awesome. I rolled my project toyota around on them and could easily spin it in my garage one handed. The 2nd set I got was SHIT complete and utter shit. I had to take all the wheels off and grind the center where the "ball bearing roller" part connects to the top bracket. It's a pressed on deal to hold the bearings in. After doing that I set weight on them and it still wasn't enough. I ended up grinding all the (16)wheels down in the center for about 3 hours with the bench grinder. I'd check the clearance below before ever even leaving the store!!
I know, you get what you pay for but come awn!

Don't waste your time/money!
Had them and they were junk (Maybe OK for a smaller car, but...): http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=576907
Went with OTC Stingers Mod 1580 and the difference is amazing.

Here's a pic of how big the 2000Lb northern tool versions are:
Sitting under my 53 - only one rear wheel on at the moment.

Next to a 35" tire (full of antifreeze - with the addition of a 4x4 they also work great for moving my 460 around.)

I've got a set I picked up at a Cummins tool sale I believe. They aren't bad, I can't just push them with one hand, but they do the job of moving things around. Make sure the floor doesn't have any big cracks in it. They don't like that. I wish they had better casters on them, but you get what you pay for and I'm not disappointed in them. I've used them on my Jeep, the dirt track street stock, and a LS1 monte carlo that is pretty heavy.

Mine are absolute crap. I have not had problems with the casters so much as the frames. Of the 4 that I own, 3 have the frames bent badly enough that the casters can not rotate. I do not mistreat them, or use them for anything super big or heavy, mostly just moving axles around.

Odd that there are such mixed results.
I have three pairs of these... I've used them to move my 4500-pound pig of a 4x4 around, and even once used a pair to move the front of my Dodge CTD laterally. Mine work, and work well enough -- I'd love to have a set of Go-Jacks, but for the price, these are a solid value.

I drug a XJ with no front axle onto a trailer with them one time. They were worth their weight in gold that evening. I've been meaning to pick some up for the shop. I think it would be nice to push the rig close/against the wall and have more useable space. That's good to hear some responses about the HF ones. Might have to check out northern tools site.

I've got two sets of four. love them, especially when they are on sale for half price. 35-12.50's fit great, wider may be a problem.

I have 4 sets. Of the four sets, two sets have crappy casters on them the other two are OK. I put my light vehicles and frames on the crappy ones and the heavy rigs on the good ones. Keep telling myself that one of these days I'm going to do something about those crappy casters.
One of these days.
So yes, if you've done the math I have 16 of these things.
I have never had a problem with the frames BTY.

Have a set... The casters to not roll easily. Toyotas they are ok but fullsizes you will need some help as there is too much resistance/friction.

I have a set, they work really well on my bone stock 46' willys, however I am afraid to set my jeepster on them cause they seem pretty flimsy.

I bought a set of 4 to roll my '53 willys project around. Turns out that I can barely move the chassis around. If I put the motor and trans in I might as well drag the damn thing. The casters don't spin into the proper direction and then if they do the wheels don't spin. I will be building my next set with some old jacks from the salvage yard and good casters. This set was a waste of money.

I don't understand the disparity. Some say they work well and some say they are terrible. Do you think HF is using mutiple suppliers? I purchased 2 pair 2 weeks ago for future use and have not had them out of the box. I got them for $60 minus 10% so I guess if they're junk I'll find another use for them. If anyone finds a decent replacement caster, let us know. Thanks, Dave
