I'm installing a knuckleball kit on my 85' toy axle and I have acouple of questions. The first is it OK to weld the gussets onto the ball itself or do you just but it against the ball and weld the rest? Also the slugs for the steering stops do you grind them untill they fit inside or do you just weld them to the top? Thanks for the input.

I didn't weld the gussets to the ball itself. Just set them so the gusset is against the ball and then welded them to the housing. I cut my own steering stop reinforcements. I cut my triangles so they would fit inside the existing stops. I thought going this route would make them stronger then just welding on top of the existing stops.

On my diamond axle they are welded onto the ball.

Welded to the ball, steering stops on top. Put the felts on before you weld to check for clearance.
