I have a suzuki samurai and am totally overhual it for rockcrawling. i am getting a LC engineering stage 2 22r, converting it to propane injection (gotpropane.com), want a Atlas 4 speed (10:1 low), ford high pinion 9's (4.88s or 5.13s) from currie and 37's or 39's BFG Krawlers or TSL's. I will be streching the frame/body 8-12 inches behind the drivers seats so length is not going to be an issue. i am looking for a 102-106in wheelbase. MY QUESTION IS, i dont know what tranny will work well, and be bulletproof???? i can get an adapter plate from AA, so anything doesnt matter. I will be rockcrawling and want low first gear and strong. manual preferred!!! thanks for your opinions.

a np 435 is strong and it has a 6.69 low gear, why do you need a low gear if you have a 10:1 t/c. anything with 175:1 gear ratio is plenty in a buggy. the only thing bad about the manual trans with the granny box is they are heavy and big!
