I'm going to try back door with my early bronco. Stock wheel base, 92 in., 36 in. iroks, half ton drivetrain built with all the good stuff. Iv'e gottin my confidence up after making some climbs that were similar to BD. Any advice?

I've got a 69 bronco, 99" wb, rock crusher 60's. 4-link coil-over, 42" iroks with 2/3 water, atlas 5.0, front & rear winch, 700r4, 351 fuel injected, all the goodies.
Had a hell of a time getting it. Good spotting and no fear, backwards rolls suck, especially if you like your junk. good luck, love to hear how it goes. A bunch of talkers are saying they got it with less than 99, all lies, show pic's.

The 92in. thing worries me. I've found if I run my winch cable to my axel guard and suck down the front end a little, it climbs really good. Its about the only thing at the hammers I have'nt tried. Any advice on the right line would help. I seem to remember reading something about more to the right?

Not with that WB. Start far left, climb the ledge until you think your going over backwards, then go driver & give it some. you will then pop up the first ledge. After that its all about sawing the wheel back an forth, with some onion, and you will get it. Also, fill your tire with about 2/3 water.
O' and don't scratch your roof.

I'm runnin 39's with 104" WB and a winch to suck the front down, and I could only make it up on the first ledge on the first climb. tried to crawl it, that didnt work. tried to hit it 2nd gear, that still didnt work. You dont have the WB.

There's a fair amount more to it then wheelbase. My old single seat car that was 102 inches flew up the right, middle, and left lines without difficulty. Center of gravity, weight distribution, tires, committment, the right line, etc... are going to play into whether or not you make it.

Get some shoulder belts if you try it. You were hangin way outta the cage in that vid, and it looks like your head almost pops out the top when you sit up straight. You have a pretty good chance of going over backwards hard.
When you approach the fall, make sure you get hung on your diff 2 or 3 times like everyone does their first time:flipoff2: That way you are already frustrated before you get on the climb and won't bother with that slow, technical, boring driving and you can get up there and just peel out.
Usually need a little bump to get the rear tires up the first ledge. Then back up to the edge of the ledge so you can get a bigger bump. I like to hit it in 3rd gear. If it jumps up and back, let off. If it jumps up and forward, stay in it and work the wheels. If it jumps straight up or doesn't even jump, put it in reverse and hang your head in shame because you suck at driving:flipoff2:
The 2nd ledge is the one that gets most people. You're gonna have to figure it out for yourself, though. Much more entertaining that way:D
And scraprock, Garry's tough to compare to. He's, um...different. He probably has a better shot at making the fall in his Dodge than this Bronco does!

Thanks for the input. Before I try I'm going to lower the seat about an inch and a half. Build a taller stinger. Put the harness back in, and strap on the brain bucket. To be honest it's getting the back wheels up the first ledge that I'm most worried about. I'm not afraid to pin it, just don't want to take out the hood or radiator.
This is going to happen at TB jambo.

My buddy Brian put on a pretty good show when were there a few weeks back. Was our last night and he was the last in line. Got his front tires over the top and just stayed in the throttle for about a minute and tires heated up and pulled him through. However, after he made it he got a bit cocky and gave the 2nd ledge a good 3 foot run and bump. Launched the entire rig up about 2-3 feet in the air and to the passenger side a good 3 feet. He broke his rear drive shaft right at the flange on the atlas.
His rig is the green fj buggy.
