Hello,
I have an '86 CJ7 (wide track) that I busted the crap out of. Truck has 4.56 gears, teralow 4:1 in a Dana300 (twin stick), and 38" tires. long story short, the front D30 axleshafts are both wasted, but I am having them RMA'd thru Superior, as they are the alloy 297x ujoint models. It's got 4.56 gears and a Lockrite, as well as the superwinch hubs.
But, the housing is wasted, actually the right side inner (upper) knuckle where the ball join mounts is split. I can either get a new housing and swap in all my parts, including re-welding my non-stock springpads and steering stabalizer pad, or I can get someone to weld a replacement knuckle on the right side.
OR, i can junk the D30, sell all the parts off it, and get a cut-down D44. But I won't have spare axleshafts, and will have the same ujoint, basically running the risk of breaking it again.
OR, I can try to swing a dana60 front end, but that would be totally custom, expensive, and probably couldn't get it together for at least 2 months.
Ideas, suggestions?
