: Pusu
handlebar 01-06-2008, 06:57 PM I know that everybody in F-Toy considers me a loose cannon, I can live with that, however, I had a great time spectating at PUSU today. Too bad that our only entrant { Pat and Kris } busted on day one but at least they had the huevos to try, youve got to admire the desire. It was really fun seeing so many people that I knew, and were asking about our ride and why we were not competing. Great event, lots of fun, good for WERock.
ToolBox Guy 01-06-2008, 07:01 PM Did you get a look at the trophies? I know most people don't hang out for the awards, but we built the trophies for the event and was wondering if you thought they looked stupid.
handlebar 01-06-2008, 07:16 PM Had I known you made them I would have stayed but as luck would have it and dindin was waiting I left after the shootout.

We rock had limited entrys, and wanted the entry fee $350? sent in up front just for a chance you may be excepted.

I think they kind of shot themselfs in the foot with that one. I think there was a no show or two due to weather, but their was only 18 rigs starting Saturday. That's 10 short of the limit.

U funny Dog, thanks for the compliment, I think...
azyota 01-08-2008, 11:08 AM Thanks MD :flipoff2: But he's probably right!
Here is how far I got. Very wet and slippery! I think right at half the teams made this climb. If it was dry I don't think it would have been too bad. In the rain, not so good.

Got any more videos from this event? That album is private so I can't browse it :(
What did you end up breaking?
mtbrjon 01-08-2008, 12:36 PM Couple pics. Not too hardcore but cool as it shows 3 completely different lines around gate 1 on B2. This is Jody Everding going the unconventional line. Looked very cool.
mtbrjon 01-08-2008, 12:37 PM Then Matt and Tim backing in and digging around.
mtbrjon 01-08-2008, 12:42 PM Then Jessie does it Eastern style. Just drive in. Of course it helps to have rear steer.
It was a blast to watch all these great drivers get thru some nasty courses. Interesting to see all the different line choices and the spotter and drivers styles. Great event. Thanks Kleins, property owners, BZ, and all that made this event possible. Maybe next year we'll take a week off and drag our junk out there. Please order better weather. It was fawkin nicer weather back home in TN then in AZ!? WTF ?!:D:D

Those are badass, Brett!!
I'd have spelled out "Put Up or Shut Up" rather than PUSU...you know, just to get a rise out of Grandma when she saw it on my wall...but that's just me. :D

I broke the output shaft and it busted the case when it let go.
I have a bunch more video but I havn't had time to go thru it yet. This is a repost from another thread, but here is a short clip of Jody Everding that I shot on B3.

mtbrjon 01-08-2008, 03:33 PM Good to meet Pat and Sam. Unfortunately rain and crappy weather made hanging out around a camp fire not possible.:( Good to put faces with names though. Was really hoping to see Pat run some courses but busting an output isn't a quick fix kinda break particularly when you can't find a spare case. I guess I need to add one to our spare parts.

Shot ourselves in the foot? NO CHANCE...we wanted a smaller field because that makes it easier to build heroes. Did you notice we still had a very large crowd there when Paule ran as the last rig in the shootout? How many times does that happen? With too many teams, it just becomes muddy trying to get the crowd to relate to teams, hence the limits we placed. My original intent was to limit the field to 20...Big Rich asked for 28 saying that 5 or 6 would prolly no-show and we'd end up around my goal for a more personal show...and that it was. More teams would not have made for a better event.
For a series where we're trying to choose who's the best, it's another goal and story altogether, we need to keep the field more open...for special events, tight limits are where it's at.
On another note, the event was amazing and the teams were perfect in not only their amazing driving and violent attempts at cresting those climbs (stole that from JRT), but the teams were especially doing a great job on the microphone and with how they related to the crowds. These personal events really give you the chance to show off who you are and what you are about. I was really bummed to see Pat and Kris get nailed right off. Had the weather worked out, they would have been able to crawl most of those hardcore lines and really show off the F Toy as it should. The wet just made much of it a throttle-fest.
It was great to see everyone out there!

Thanks! the plaque idea was something we threw together literally days before the event. I didn't even know if they were going to arrive in Az. in time for the event.
Glad everyone had a good time it looks like it was fun!
RedBullJeep 01-08-2008, 06:48 PM BTW, everyone was stoked with the trophies...really, everyone mentioned how cool they were and they were glad to see something unique. TOUCHDOWN on the idea!
benttoy 01-08-2008, 06:53 PM It was an awesome event. If it was dry an F-TOY could have crawled a lot of the courses. cool vid. Pat way to get it. Brett those trophies are badass

Thanks again guys. Mustard Dog and I are hopefully going to pull out some cool stuff for the '08 season trophies with WEROCK, we just ran out of time for him to show how he can "work his wood".:D

Thanks Dustin, I was pretty disappointed to break right away. And I think your right. If it was dry I'm pretty sure we could have crawled all the standard lines and maybe even gone for a bonus here and there. All except B4. I don't know if I could have gotten up that one.
As far as shooting yourself in the foot, I was thinking that just from a $$$ perspective. That's great that it's not all money driven and now that I think about it, 20 rigs is probably a good call for a 4 course venue. Five per course and keep all the action close and moving.
I had a great time despite the breakage! See you in JV.
What type of output did your break? Was it a stock one?
azyota 01-08-2008, 09:09 PM Yeah a cryoed stock shaft.
RedBullJeep 01-08-2008, 10:28 PM Mustard Dog ..., we just ran out of time for him to show how he can "work his wood".:D

Dude, I talked to you on Friday when you first pulled in but you looked to be in a bit of a daze and I don't think you recognized who I was. :flipoff2:
It was a little funny that people that i'd met on the East coast several times had no idea who I was. I guess I was a little "out of context". Maybe I look different when i'm not inside my Ftoy? The East coasters were definitely the minority out there.
Spotting for BZ must have been a blast. Too bad ya'll got on your lid up on the hill. I saw it after the fact.

yeah...when I first showed up I was feelin like crap and didn't really even know who I was. plus you didn't have your bright green shirt on. how the hell was anyone supposed to recognize you? :flipoff2:
that flop on b2 sawked. a good score there woulda put us a lot further up for the shootout.
Yeah a cryoed stock shaft.
:barf: I know the pain. I broke a cryoed stock one last year at the Hammers. The thing splintered and twisted right up. Couldn't get any of the bearings off so we could swap in the spare output. We ended up hammering and filing it down with rocks sitting on sledge hammer while we waited for our buddies to come back with more tools.
howyadoin 01-09-2008, 02:58 PM It was a great event Dustin! The cold and rain definately added some additional challenge for participants (and spectators:grinpimp:), but it was a blast as always!
