here is a pic of my "tow" vehicle and the jeep is in theback ground(it looks totally different now though).
it is an 86 F150 with the 302 and AOD automatic transmission. it has ~200K miles on it, 2WD, and 35's... it tows pretty good. not the best but definatly not the worst. i can tow the jeep on the trailer at around 65-70 no problem. the biggest problem i have had with it is the shitty 8.8. i have broken two carriers in it. i think that the breakage was caused by power breaking 35's(not real smart). i just swapped in a 9" and have 4.56's to put in.
it only cost me $3000 when i bought it 6 years ago. i get around 10-12 whn towing. i definatly would like another tow rig but it will do for now.

'73 Chevy C20, 454, Turbo 400, 4.10 gears. The motor is pretty much stock, just a K&N, Accel HEI distributor, and 2.5 inch Flowmasters. AirLift airbags, and Rancho 9000s. 8.5 foot Elkhorn (Fleetwood) camper. Towing a homemade 16ft trailer.
With the camper, I get 6.5 to 8mpg. No camper its 7-8.5 mpg. Runs good, but it is getting tired. I will most likely rebuild the motor this summer.
This pic is about 5 years old, but here ya go:
Here's mine... 2000 SuperDuty, Crew Cab, 4x4, V10, auto, 4.30 gears, short bed.
That's my trailer behind it too - 16', 83" between the fenders, double axle, 5k axles, brakes on one.

87 f250, 460, c-6, t-case? if i could fix teh damen manifold from leaking it would be sweet, but it chugs in teh hills but holds its own on the flat stuff for as fast as i feel safe going. braking it does ok but i guess if i fixed teh rear wheel cylinders id be ok. it works for 3000 bucks i paid.

Well, this WAS my tow-rig on Father's Day..
http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/album38/DCP_0004.sized.jpg
1974 International Harvester "200" series Travelette. Aka 4-door, 1Ton (9,000 GVWR), long-box. 166" WB, 2wd/IFS..
Straight. Gas 345V8, wide ratio T98, 4.30 gears in the IH Corporate rear end.
GREAT tow-rig. Doesn't care what's on the trailer, NO trailer sway.. captain's chairs up front, bench in the back.
$1000 and it was paid for, put new tires on it, tune-up, misc stuff..
I'll have had it home for a year on the 4th of July and I've loved every minute of it except for the last week.
Went to go to work Thursday morning and discovered the truck I'd searched for for a few years to finally find had been victimized by some drunk HIT-AND-RUN FAWK..
http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/74tette/wreck_6_27_2002/DCP_0001sm.jpg
So today I was busy borrowing the front clip from my 1/2T 4x4 to put on the 4-door so I can take off in 2.5 weeks for Colorado, Moab, and Seattle... :( :(

I have two tow rigs now. For some places I use my 1983 McPheeters Establishment Motorhome. It's nice to camp in and has lots of room for food and parts. It's slow going up any kind of hill and only gets about 8 MPG. It's got a 460 Ford Motor.
I also have a 1996 Dodge Ram with the 5.9L motor. It pulls a lot fast and gets about 12 MPG with the trailer. I use this for day trips and as a daily driver to get to work.

D60 front/D80 rear axle with 3.54 limited slip, 241HD tcase.
I've got aftermarket injectors, 4" exhaust, and a major fueling box that is slipping the clutch right now. The truck dyno'd last time at 305 HP to the rear wheels and 670 ft/lbs of torque. I've not dyno'd with the latest fueling box, but I'm estimating at 360 HP and 900 ft/lbs at the rear wheels. I tow my FJ40 with it. I can pretty much leave people in the dust when I'm towing.

Bad picture - Kinda blurry (was taken from a buddy's rig on the highway). But it shows my tow rig, trailer, and Jeep.
I've got an Chev '02 K3500 Duramax/Allison. The trailer is a 10,000lb, 18' deck tandem axle (brakes on both) with a custom tounge. I had it extended to clear the 11' camper I also carry for extended trips.
Truck hauls the trailer and camper with ease. Passing lanes are still an option :D .

98 burb K1500. Lotsa room, leather, TV/VCR or DVD CD and cassette. Loaded with everything. Got it for $16,500. Hate the 3.42's and 10 bolt. Still rides like a truck. Made the mistake of putting E rated tires on it 'cause I thought I needed them. Trailer is a Superior with brakes on one axle. The optimum position on the trailer makes me hafta hang the ramps like they are. Had to upgrade the safety chains 'cause the stock one were woefully inadequate. Despite the size of the tow rig it still translates alot of momentum back into the burb. Hafta tow in 3rd 'cause od just won't cut it. Don't have the funds for a 14 bolt sf with 3.73's yet. Would hafta change out the fron too. I'll hafta wait until I cream it.

Here is "ours". This is actually my father's but he lets me use it when I need to pull something. It is an 86 K-30 with a 453T Detroit Diesel and Allision transmission hooked up to a NP205 and Gear Vendors overdrive. Has a D60 in the front with 10 lug adapters and a Dana 80 in the back. Note the bling bling 19.5 Alcoas and photoshop'ed paint on the hood (the one piece hood is actually still primer). Weighs 8000 lbs and gets 13 mpg whether we are pulling or not.

Here is my rig:
Chevy 3500 HD - 496/Allison/4.11/4x4 and a much needed 50 gallon aux. tank
Pulling a 34' gooseneck that weighs about 8000lbs, a D90 at about 4500lbs, and a 4-runner at about 3500 lbs.
Running at 75 on the interstate this combo gets about 6mpg. Running 65 it gets about 7-8. Truck gets about 10-11 mpg unladen. It has great power around town and on the highway unladen. I have 22000 miles on it since August of last year, and about 15000 of it is pulling a trailer.
I like the combo, but it really sucks down the gas. Gonna get a Ford SuperDuty PowerStroke next time (as the '03 Chevy HD is gonna have the hideous Avalanche front end).

i towed my old camo rig over 11k miles in one year with the expedition. it has a 4" rancho lift with rs9000's and air bags. complete trailer weight was right at 7k pounds. it towes great. not as well as my f350 psd of course but it workes well and i would not hesitate to tow anywhere with it.

Here is my truck, it is a 02' 2500 4x4 Cummins High Output 6 speed. It gets 13.8 mpg with 60/40 city/ highway miles. They are supposed to 'break in' at 10K or so.
I love the truck, love driving it. I do think that you really have to want a heavy duty vehicle to drive one of these Dodges, especially the 6 speed.
It has 4.10's, dont get them, get the 3.55's for mileage and RPM on the highway. I wish I had them.
This is my brothers truck. 01' Ford PSD. He loves it and so do I.
I prefer my dodge cause I like the 6 speed, etc...
If you dont want a truck that shifts/ drives/ rides/ sounds/ etc.. like a big rig, dont get a dodge. Ford PSD is a great truck too. In my opinion not QUITE as heavy duty but probably a better choice for most folks.

Here's mine. Bought it because it fits in the garage with room to spare (yeah, that's it). Gets about 10-12 mpg towing, less if you go into triple digits. I love blowing people away at stoplights with the Zuk in tow, I'd guess I can still do 0-60 in 10 seconds, have to time it sometime :D FWIW it's a 2001, 3.73's, 4spd, supercharged 5.4L, puts out approx 385hp and 450 ft/lb of torque. It's stock for now other than a K&N.

Lets just say it can tow fine in triple digits  I found the tongue weight is what determined how squirrley it would be. First time out I had the Zuk too far back on the trailer and it got squirrley at 65. I moved it two inches forward and it has been stable at every speed I have tried so far. The guy riding with me to Las Cruces was even amazed that he couldn't feel the trailer back there.
I would like to be the first to say that if you were towing a trailer in the tripple digits your an idiot and you should have your drivers license revoked. That is about the equivalent to playing Russian roulette and not spinning the chamber each pull of the trigger, eventually someone is gonna die. Let's just hope it is you and not the innocent family.

This really isn't the place for a flame war but I have to agree. Are you exceeding the 5,000 pound tow rating? I'm sure those trailer tires are not rated for those kind of speeds!  If you want to be a Darwin award winner fine, just try not to take anyone else out in the process please.

Some people have the ability to drive faster (and still be in control) than others do. Driving is just too much to comprehend for some, while it just comes natural for others. Just because you may not feel comfortable about it doesn't mean it's wrong.
A properly loaded trailer with brakes, behind an experienced, alert driver (even at 100mph) is probably safer than most driver/auto combinations out there. Chris is not a dumbass, I'm sure he doesn't whip his trailer through (any) Downtown area doing 100+ riding somebody's ass.
I, for one, tow at a very fast rate when on the open road. I also pay more attention. So, if you see either one of us on the road, "carry'n the mail", keep right and cheer us on! After all, someone has to win the Human Race, and we can't all live to be a 100!:smokin:

BULLSHIT!! I hate listening to people try to justify their absolutely rediculous behavior. It's not even a matter of the law, go do heroin for all i care, but you don't drive an already over burdoned truck that fast, then you're putting me and everyone else in danger. I don't care if you're michael schumacher, that is unacceptable. Most of the time I am cruising along at 65 depite the 75mph speed limits. That was a one time deal, as I said we needed to meet up with the trip leaders or waste a long Sunday drive and not be able to wheel. I was worried about the trailer tires but all the ones I have lost I have had a lot of warnng (if you pay attention and check your mirrors like your suposed to). Since the freeway was closed for two hours the roads were clear and annoyingly straight with a slight uphill grade all the way from Tuscon to Las Cruces. Anyone who hasn't exceeded the posted speed limit in the last week by 25 mph is welcome to throw stones, the rest of you (I'd be willing to bet all of you) are in the same boat.

Dude, don't go road rage on me  ! I would never drive an overloaded vehicle at 100mph, 85 is scary enough!
Lighten up a little, besides, I'd kick Schumacher's ass in a trailer race! You can't expect him go from all that technology to a trailer towing rig. He probably doesn't even remember how to drive without traction control - he'd spin out in the first turn! :D
I don't want an arguement, I believe we should not drive past our own capabilities and/or line of sight.

One otehr cool reason I bought this truck: they used the brakes from the Excursion on the Lightnings, an Excursion weighs 8600lbs, Lightning 4670lbs. So without my trailer brakes I am pretty close to what an Excursion weighs if you add the trailer and Zuk, with my trailer brakes it stops better than my old Nissan.

Speaking of overloading, you need a commercial license (class A in fact) to operate that combination in the lovely state of California! (if you have one go ahead and flame me!) Also, do you feel right about driving 55 mph while some young punk ass gets to do 70 before they even get a true license? It's all about experience, control, and common sense. I don't want to hurt anyone either, I speed when conditions are right.

why onearth would he need a Comercioal drivers liscens....much less a class A liscens for his truck and trailer combo? in texas, you dont have to have a CDL unless your above 25,000 total weight, hauling more then 15 people, or a few other things. that is just a normal truck and trailer.

If your trailer's GVWR is above 10,000 pounds, you need a commercial license...in any state. The only exception is if the trailer in question is an RV trailer.

not quite the whole story...Texas law states that "Any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle or vehicles towed exceeds 10,000 pounds."
That translates to the total weight must be over 26001 lbs, AND either the vehicle towing or vehicle being towed (a trailer in this case) must have a GVWR of more than 10000 lbs.
Also, you must have a CDL if you are driving "...any vehicle designed to transport 24 passengers or more, including the driver." AGGIECJ-7...ya fool :flipoff2:

Not the weight of the combo, just the weight ratings of them. BTW my friends '96 Dodge 1 ton dually has a GVWR of 11,000 by it's self. And the one trailer you're talking about has 2 count them 2 7,000 axles so that trailer could be rated for 14,000 GVWR. Some people get confused between what their combo weights and what it's rated for too. And for those of us in Kalifornia, 30 years ago when I first got my Class 1 license, you needed one to pull a trailer that weighted more than 6,000 pounds except a camping trailer. Also in Kal. if you are caught driving a certian mph above the limit it becomes reckless driving not just speeding. And the MAX speed limit for any vech pulling a trailer is 55. So if the cop wants to be a prick you'll get more ticket than you thought you would. And that ticket stays on your license longer too. Just like a DUI does.

I didn't say weight of the combo...read the quote you included in your own post...I specified GVWR where I meant GVWR and vehicle weight where I meant vehicle weight...as for the reckless driving offense, I think that may be nation-wide, you have to be going over 25 mph over the speed limit here in Texas, so that would be 96 or more in a 70...also, when you're pulling a trailer with a truck, your speed limit is the same as with no trailer, so 70 mph on the highway either way...55 mph is only for 18-wheelers, and they rarely get pulled over for that...those laws are mostly for cali...I think you guys are under a lot more laws than the rest of the nation, but Cali residents probably know that

BurrRabbit97 You did. but a lot of posts here talk about the weight they're sitting at when the cop will look at CGVWR. And the rest I was talking about Kali's laws which suck. Also in Kali any vech. pulling a trailer is restricted to the right lane on any road of 3 lane in one direction or less unless passing then you're allowed to move over one lane only. I see cars/ pickups pulling trailer all the time in the Hammer lane. Again if a cop wants to pull you over, you just gave him all the reson he needs. The average person doesn't have a clue of all the laws they're breaking when driving around pulling thier car/ boat/ etc trailer. And if you're right about it being 25 mph over for reckless then in Kali that would be only 80 mph. I see people doing this all the time going down I-5 pulling a 4x4 or boat on a trailer. And on your statement about not needing a CDL in Texas, that may be. But get caught doing that in Kali, and you're trailer will be towed unless someone with you has a CDL to drive the combo away. A friend of mine got a good gig moving bobcats for a landscaping company after their employees got busted for this. Again the law is diferent in Kalifornia than Texas. Also in kali if you have a flatbed or a service body on a pickup instead of the normal pickup box you're required to go thru the DOT scales just like a big rig truck. Just another sucky Kali law again.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~marka/Temp/travelette,%20tow2-edit.jpg
'78 GMC, 3/4T, 4x4, Camper Special, 350/400 that gets the job done, nothing special, 4" lift I put on in my stupid youth, and never could afford tires :D (the rims and tires on it in the pic were recent acquisitions, the tires were junk, but the rims were cool... ended up selling them shortly after for more than I bought them for ;) ) Been a good truck, my dad's owned it since it was new.
New rig is a '72 International Travelette 1310. Crew Cab, Short Box, 1-ton.
2wd for now... will be 4wd. 4.88 D70 Powerlok, 727 auto, will soon have a 5-speed OD tranny, till I regear and go to the 5-speed direct, better gear spacing for towing.
Trailer is a Custom built 20' unit I got a killer deal on. Only 3500# axles, but I will upgrade some day. All rectangular tube so its light and strong. Tows killer.
Both the t-lette and the trailer have changed a bit since that pic (me bringing it home). Trucks got new rims and tires (VAST improvement in its appearance) and the rear springs were rebuilt (one leaf was tweaked) and the bed has been primed. It gets a custom paint job soon....
The aluminum box on the front of the trailer was removed (its for sale, anyone want it?? make me an offer). It was great, but with a truck on the deck, the balance was just wrong. The front 1/2 of the trailer has been repainted.... it will match the t-lette when it is painted <g>

nope, the rears a D70, not an IH Corprate, even says "70" on it.
they seem to put what ever they (or the customer wanted)... nothing wrong with a 70... I sounds like its comprable to the RA-20....... from what I've gathered...
parts are eaier to come by as well
no front D70 :( will be getting a D44, cause they are cheap, with work fine and can't justify a $1000+ D60 for my tow rig... would rather put one in the trail rig :flipoff2:

A RA-15 is would be the rough equivilant of a D80 (12.25 inch ring gear) . A RA-20, IIRC, is the code for the light duty Loadstar rears (15ish inch ring.).
Parts are easier for the RA series, you just have to look at truck shops and 'yards, not automotive.
I missed the 2wd part ealier.
I WOULD NOT use a 44 front.
Mandera's T-ette has a front axle weight within 200 lbs of a maxed out D44. Either pony up for the 60, or look around for a 70.
The 60 would be a better choice, dick brakes and such. Using a 70 center section w/ Chevy outer stuff would be cool, but $$$
It would be BOMBed up and bomb proof, though.

D70 has a 10.5" Ring Gear, RA-15 is 11" with a 1 3/8" pinion diameter, vs. 1.25" for the '70.
RA-20 is the same as an RA-15, just heavier spindles/bearings - they list it as a 10,000lbs capacity, with the same gear ratios, though the "tall" 4.30s weren't offered in the RA-20.

On my recent trip to Colorado, I was over 3800lbs on the front end, with the whole truck n' trailer down to 14,380lbs on the scales before taking on fuel. I'll try to get the weight slip out of the glovebox later and send you two the details.
Dana 44 isn't rated for more than 3600lbs.. and I'm not into smoking wheel-bearings on a rapid basis, and I really dig the bigger brakes a 60 (and my stock A-arm coil front) offers.
FWIW, IH lists their HD D44 as 3500lbs, with the D70 listed at 4,000lbs.

My Heep gets towed by my '93 Dodge/Cummins W250 LE club cab. The Cummins is BOMBed and runs through a 5 spd, NP205, 60 front and 70 rear. It tows a 30 ft. gooseneck that has a camper up front and then 19 ft left for Heep, dirt bike, 4 wheeler and generator. The whole combo grosses about 18,500 lbs. Mileage is great for a 6,500 lb. truck. I love being able to have a real truck to drive the 60 mile round trip daily without going broke on gas. Empty, the truck gets 18-19 mpg, the worst tank towing was 13 mpg. These numbers are roughly double what a big block gas rig would get. 12 valve Cummins is the way to go IMO. Easy power upgrades, best mileage. I've always been a Chevy man, but took a leap in buying the Dodge for the Cummins. I love this truck.

Cummins? I've seen a couple.. but if I had my way, I'd PowerStroke (well, not really, I'd use the pre-PowerStroke 7.3 IDI or 444 IDI motor with less computer "stuff" to deal with - then Turbo/Intercool it) it.
But since I didn't have the cash lying around to just buy a rebuilt 7.3 outright, I'm building something I know - a gasser.

Yep, it's an IH/Navistar Thing. :D
Plus, in '74 (like my 1T 4dr) they made some changes to where and how the engine mounts and such.. making room for the 404/444 gasser motors, which never quite made it into the light trucks.. but which are very similar to the 6.9 and 7.3..
So the factory was already thinking about this swap, they just discontinued the line too soon. :D

I wonder what's "special" about them that allows for the uprating over the older straight axle '44s..
No idea... those dodge axles are even "disconnect" axles mid-tube. Its only 250lbs though, could be a slightly different design, could also be there was a larger safety margin in the older D44 ratings.

I tow with my '75 3/4 ton 2wd Chevy longbed truck.
It has plenty on power for my use. It has an Edelbrock 600 carb and dual 2 1/2" exhaust.
I cant tow at 100 mph, but I dont wat to either.
The truck costed me $600, so I am alot happier than spending $30K or more on a tow rig. I can put all my money (not much) into my 3 4x4s.
I also just bought a bed ramp setup, so I can haul my sami and my Toyota at the same time.

I have a 2001 f150 extended cab - V6
I tow a toyota and it does just fine. I tow at about 70-75mph, but the hills do slow me down of course.
I haven't checked mileage, I am guessing around 16 mpg towing, 20 mpg otherwise.

That's a rental, 10K lb 16 foot long trailer, 81" between fenders. I rented it from Hertz Equipment Rental (http://www.hertzequip.com) for $175/week. My buddy Dave rented the 12K lb model at the same time as me, same rental rates. The trailer he ended up with was a 104" x 20 feet deck-over trailer! The trailer he got would've been overkill for my little F-250 so it was fine by me he got that one even though I have the bigger Bronco between the two of us. Check out Hertz, they have some killer weekly rates on equipment trailers.

Tom,
When you convert, find a old short bus or delivery truck with the T444. more likely to get a better deal, and possibly a better rear axle to swap under yours.
I would reccomend against putting a turbo on any engine not designed for it. cracked pistons can get expensive

Here's my 2001 3/4ton Suburban. I just bought it so that I could tow the POS jeep in frot of it (and so I could drive to UT away games). It has the 496 engine, leather, and I just put in 2 TVS and a DVD player for roadtrips.

I tow my junk with a 79 Ford Bronco. Its also my daily driver. I've probably towed well over 5k miles this year alone with it. She does ok. The 351m was rebuilt in january and I'm still running the stock carb and intake. Going to be changing that out pretty soon. Still has the original t-18 manual tranny and np205 tcase. Reverse cut D44 front and semi float 60 rear. It struggles in the mountains but will consistantly run 75+ anywhere else...

1977 Chevy C-30 Cab & Chassis, Jerr-Dan rollback
Stock 454, worn out SM465, 4.10 gears
10-12 mpg unloaded
8-10 mpg with load on bed
6 mpg at 70 mph with loaded bed and trailer
The faster I go, the faster the mileage drops. :D
I need a gear splitter and overdrive! I also would really like a diesel (not 6.2 or 6.5 though), but I can't afford it right now. The 454 has good power but drinks gas.
I paid $6000 for this truck a year ago, with rebuilt engine and new clutch.
Trailer is 2 years old, 83" between fenders, 14 foot deck (I think) with 2 foot dovetail. 3500 pound axles with brakes on one. Weighs 1900 pounds. I plan to put in heavier axles, because I always seem to tow heavy stuff on it.
This pic shows the heaviest load so far. Towed 6 hours to get it home. I had to take the Ford in order to get the Dodge, and I had to take the Dodge to get the D60 front out of it! :D I don't want to do it again.

http://www.ih8mud.com/photos/2002-07-27_attica/p7240001.jpg
1985 Ford 27' Class C, 460 carbed, C6 with triple coolers, roof air, Onan generator, shower, sleeps 6, fridge, freezer, microwave, etc. Only 45k on the rig, fully loaded it's about #18,000 total. Tekonsha brake controller. Generally 7-8 mpg loaded at 65-70 mph. Hope to retire it in 1-2 years for a diesel pusher.
This is my "retiring" short-trip hauler. I've done some big runs in the past with it, but the miles are adding up...generally only 100 mile trips now.
http://www.ih8mud.com/photos/2002-07-27_attica/truck-trailer.jpg
1995 Toyota 4x4 pickup, 3.0 V6, 5-speed, 4.56 factory gears, 33x10.5 tires, TrueTrac rear, 11mpg towing fully loaded. I replaced the factory clutch at 145k, truck has 155k on it now. (I bought this one new.) No uphill speed records, but it handles great and some guys who have ridden with me have been impressed with it, even handles good on snow run trips. With the electric brakes on it the trailer it stops great. Comfortably, about 70-75 mph in 4th gear. Daily driving mileage is 18-20.
Hoping to replace this one soon...looking now at a 2000 GMC 2500HD with a 6.0 and only 50k on it.

This is my POS. It's a 77 F250 lowboy, with a 460 swapped in. It gets about 9MPG empty, bout 6-7 towing. I used it to tow one time, to bring home my Willys. Boy did my truck hate that thing! The motor acted like it was a 302 when I hit the go pedal! What a waste of money on the motor. (well, honestly, I think it is the operators fault she didn't want to go fast towin) I have about 1/2 of the cost of a superduty in it so far, and still dont have a paint job on it, tires or a lift yet, oh and the motor is fried after 2000 miles.

This one "just fits" my TJ. The one I really want is a Thor Wander Wagon 5th wheel with 14.5 feet of cargo area, this camper has 12. Eventually I'll get one. This one costs me $15,000, the Thor that I want, can be found for $22,000-23,000. Everytime I travel with the Jeep in the back, I have to remove the tire carrier because it sticks out a bit and the big door won't shut. This camper is heavy, dry weight is 6800lbs.

And if you would like to line your Ford up next to the Cummins I pull with be my guest. I hope you like tail lights cause that is all you will be looking at. In the next couple of months I will have Dyno numbers to back up the smack. :D
Actually I will and have take that bet. I took my 02 powerstroke(completely stock) to a National Trails Raceway (A NHRA dragstrip) and lined up against a 03 cummmins. I really don't know if he saw my taillights or not (there was a lot white smoke behind. me)!

The post that you quoted was from my old 2001 CTD. It wasn't stock! :p
So what did you run? 1/8 or 1/4 mile?
OverThrottle

I ran the 1/4. My time varied form 17.5 to 17.9 seconds. I think my time could be greatly improved with a chip, different shift points etc. Most of the competition would pull away from me at first (turbo lag I am guessing) but I would catch up and pass the other stock trucks in the last 1/8 or so.

Not bad for stock. The old 2001 I had ran a 15.52 ;) Launched in 4wd 2300 RPM in 2nd gear. :D And I would be worried about the white smoke, black is what you want to see if any. ;)

Mine is an automatic and I had left it in 2WD. I know when I am at highway speeds I can feel a small performance difference between 2wd and 4wd, so I had thought that would be better. The white smoke was from my tires. I was told by several of the poeple there that I had one of the best burnouts. If I go again I will have to try it in 4wd, maybe the difference in launch will make up the slight loss in power.

Here's mine. It's a 2003 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4 with 6.0/4L80E and 4.10s. It's an LT with the locking rear diff and trailering package.
http://www.msg4x4club.com/members/member_pics/johnnyj/tow_rig.jpg
All I can say about the cost is thank you 0% financing. Daily driving mileage is about 13.5 MPG according to the computer. I managed about 9.5 on the way to and from Tellico, but that includes some sitting and idling and other random driving. I'd guess it was probably in the 10-11MPG for the actual driving.
The trailer is 7000#, 16' with 2' beaver tail, breakaway controller, dual brakes, tube frame, treated lumber deck. Brake controller is a Dexter Predator DX2 on the rec of the guy I bought the trailer from. Paid about $2200 for it new, which seemed to be a pretty good deal for a trailer like this in Michigan .

So what you're saying is that you've been damn lucky so far and not killed yourself and thankfully no one else and that's why you feel that it's ok to endanger everyone else on the highway.
Street racing doesn't make you an expert. Driving 168 down the strip doesn't make you an expert.
THis has nothing to do with you breaking the law. It has to so with the fact you're an asshat.

So Mr. big shot "I got NAWS". What your here to tell everyone is that your POS riced out 95 Eclipse is running mid 8's in the 1/4 mile? Cause that's about what time your getting with a 168 mph trap speed. That's probably the fastest Mistu in the country.
Would you like to fix your typo or do I need to run you into the ground some more? :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Thank you Matt for pointing out the mid 8 second ET that would go along with a 168 mph trap speed.
Acer, I would love to run you for "pinks", not that my car is the fastest in the world by any means but most of the time when people say dumb ass shit like you do, my Chevelle (11.90s) is usually fast enough to beat them. Besides what does it matter how fast you are going when you get there if some one with a lower trap speed got there quicker than you did?

Something to be said for low 60 ft times. I had crappy 60ft times in my 75 Vette, but still could crank out 100mph in the trap. Should of went to 4.10's in the rear. Damn 2.73's slowing me down.
The other interesting thing is that it would take 1300 hp to get a Eclipse to run 168 mph in the 1/4 mile. I don't buy it.
