Search, search, search, that's all I have doing for the last two hours

Ok since I was in the planning stageof my install of the 14bolt I recived the other day. I had the wonderous idea to use my current springs 1 3/4 - 4 inch lift springs. Any thoughts?

Or should I grab some waggy springs and slap them on?

Second search is on the narrowing of the 14 bolt.
Is it possible to purchase a new spindle and cut and narrow the 14 bolt's long side to the length of the short side? It looks like its about 5 inchs difference. If so, has anyone done that, and what sources are there for the spindles.

Springs..if they work for you now, then continue to use them.

Narrowed 14: Seen it done before. Makes it ~ 60" wms-wms. You cut the long side off, and then reattach the same spindle. (obviously, you need to cut it down and then machine the old tube off of the spindle so that it will fit again)

How narrow are you trying to go with the 14 bolt?

If you have a 67" wide 14 bolt and want to go to 63" wide all you need to do is get the bearing hubs from a cab and chasis truck. You will have to move your backing plate mounts also. Much easier than cutting it down in my eyes.

Thats exactly where i was going.

Yea I have the 67incher from a burb. ? Sounds allot easier than cutting it. So is there a part number for the bearing hub ??

Or if I go to the yard is there away to tell? longer snout on the hub?

For ease of completion I would just swap the hbs and see if 63" will work.

The bearing hubs are available on all 1-ton chevy truck that were "Cab and Chasis". We find mostly tool/compartment trucks here but have found some flatbeds also. The WMS is just farther back on the actual hub allowing for the narrower axle while still using the same shafts/housing as other 14 bolts.

Actually, every single Duallie, whether it was a Cab & chassis, or dually pick-up bed, had a ~63" WMS to WMS measurement..the Cab & Chassis only thing is a myth. (There might be some wider duallis-P/U style ones, but I have never seen them!)

No Sh!t:eek: I've only seen C&C trucks at the pic n' pull, never a full-bed dually so that's news to me. Should make them easier to find then:beer:
