I've been giving some thought to selling my 55 and my 62 to fund my latest
irrational thought. Here's what I have, here's what I'm thinking, let me
know if you have any interest/thoughts.

1976 FJ55
157,000 miles (or thereabouts)
original 2F, rebuilt (by a Toyota dealer) approx. 15,000 miles ago
stock springs
mini-truck power steering
custom rock sliders
custom (Lobster Fab) front and rear bumpers
Warn 8274-50 (installed yesterday)
Conferr rack
33x12.5x15 BFG MT x5, 75% tread on 4, 25% on the spare
new shocks and spring bushings
some rust, mostly dealt with though (POR 15, cut out the rockers, etc.)
new battery and alternator
new AM/FM cassette with 4 speakers
Powertrax No-Slip locker in the rear diff.
probably some other things too
fully functional, building for the trail, daily drive-able
$7,500

1990 FJ62 (9/89 build, sold/titled 1990)
127,000 miles (close, I'll have to look)
absolutely stock except a Yakima rack, and 31x10.5x15 BFG AT's (70% tread)
white
ex-TLC, CA truck, no rust anywhere (except slight oxidation on front bumper)
daily driver, everything works as intended
$10,500 (low miles, no rust, perfect body and mechanics)

I feel like I'm betraying my trucks. I may not do this deal. You all may
not either, not flattering myself here. But I'm hoping to get an idea if it
might be possible at all.

Thanks,

TJK

Todd since you ask for "thoughts", both rigs are priced on the upper end for my neck of the woods. I could see a clean 55 sell for what you are asking. As for the 62... might be a push.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks, Mark, I appreciate the input. Where is your neck of the woods?

It's tough to value a Land Cruiser, that's for sure. The 62 pricing is based largely on watching similar trucks sell for around my asking price. Sure, there are plenty that sell for a lot less, but not trucks this clean, or with less than 130,000 miles on the clock. Frankly, this type of 62 is not really the kind that sells within the Land Cruiser community -- not much wrenching to do on it ever, just point and hit the gas. And in this neck of the woods, a friend of mine just paid $10,000 for an equally straight FJ62, with 30,000 more miles. Did he pay too much? I don't think so.

As to the price of the 55, I think it's fair. It's not perfectly clean, but the major rust has been solved, and the modifications I've made have been well thought out and executed. Not to mention time consuming and expensive. Is it a 55 for a hard core wheeler? No, not yet anyway. Is it a 55 like Nolen owns? Nope. You know what though -- that's what I like about it. I can wheel it with pride at Tellico, and drive it to work the next day without it being a total pain in the ass. I guess my point is that we all have individual goals for our trucks, and different visions, and unfortunately when it comes time to sell the rig, the seller needs to find a buyer who shares that goal. Blah blah.

Again, I really do appreciate the input.

Anyway, here's some photos I took of the truck yesterday.
