I did a spring-over-axle swap on my 4WD '86. Do I need the driveshaft spacer that goes between the shaft and the rear pumpkin?

Thanx.

Rats. Thank you.

Are they all the same, Calmini - Rocky Road - Hawk? Is it something you can spin up in a lathe at home?

TT sells extended slip yokes for the drive shaft.

Depends how much the lift is.... if you're just doing the perches lift (2") should be OK for mild wheeling... Otherwise go with the slip yoke.

Depends On Lift, They Are All The Same (consider Size), And Way Cheaper To Just Buy Comes With Hardware Also. More Expensive But Trailtough Slip Yoke For Rear Is Good. You Want Around 1" Of Splines To Show.:d:d:d:d

No radical lift, just put the axle on the other side with the stock perches relocated.

Without a spacer the shaft could pull out of the X-Fer case or differential; too much spacer in there, you could punch out the diff? That about right?

If you run stock shocks, springs and shackles, you can get by without spacers. Change anyone of them and you'll need spacers.

Thanks Okie, that's kinda what I was looking for. Not that I didn't want to buy them; I want this to be right and I don't want to get stranded miles from civilization, but there are enough things to spend money on.

If it aint broke....

Ya, What he said....

You can get by with just the SOA & all the stock stuff and no changes.... ANY changes & you need to accommodate. If you do... it's cheaper to do the spacer but better to do the slip yoke... less bind.

Just my $.02

Cool. It's up on stands now and won't be ready until spring. I'll run it a bit or a season and see how it shakes down. Reassess or rebuild as necessary.

Thanks guys.
