1/4" with C-channel for bracing. Whatever you do, brace it.

I dont know anything about a binford break but if you can swing it (bend it) you should use 3/8. Done properly you can take a hard hit and hold vehicle weight on nothing but the skidplate...

(all BudBuilts take this kind of abuse and his/ mine is 3/8)

bajg, you've seen a BudBuilt plate :D thats what I'm runnin. Go 3/8's . I know of a shop in Latrobe that looked like it could bend some thick shit.

why go half assed with 1/4"? Go all the way with 1/2" and build yourself a true heavy roach.? :flipoff2: Good things can be done with .120 and proper gusseting while saving major amounts of weight.

I have been running 3/16 and it was a joke! I am going with 1/4 right now with a built in tranny crossmember to help brace it.

My 1/4" is taking a beating. Some of the dimples would be trouble if they got to the tcase. I would go bigger!

Carbon fibers not that hard to make. But could it take it???????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????. It would flex allot. I just dont see it holding up, hell I scratch and dent my 1/4 inch skidplate.

really? do you really think there would be considerable weight gain from 1/16 inch? i dont..... tube is not part of the plan as if i used tube i would loose the awsome clearance i have right now........... it will basically be flat from frame rail to frame rail..........not much room for anything but a flat plate.................... actually the more i think of it i may just use what i got untill it is beyond fix and just build another one then.... ill just plan on building a new one every few years.....

with that i have another ? and ill make a new post for it.

i believe it is a joke........ carbon fiber is strong but not in impact type issues................ ie carbon fiber wheels would get destroyed on the rocks....
