A few of my friends and I, along with their rigs are wanting to make the drive up from Jacksonville for this.
I have never been to Tellico, and I really dont think they have either.
Is there anything we should probably know before coming up?
Also, how hard is it gonna be to find a place to stay? It sounds so far like there will be a very large turnout. We are all in the military, so it is pretty hard for us to plan this far in advance, but we are trying to.

Trail 1 can be done in a stock 2wd truck. Some of the other trails require full on buggy. Just make sure everything is fixed before you come and bring spares.

With atleast 31" tires and atleast one winch in the group you can have a good time in tellico. I dont think I could make it up upper 2 on 31's even with lockers...I cant wait to try guardrail on 31's.

There are lots of motels in Murphy and Blue Ridge. Theres going to be plenty of camping room at Crawfords camp group and there are plans in the works for over flow camping elsewhere.

I'll probably have 4 of my own jeeps in Murphy that weekend...and the shop truck...

Look forward to seeing everyone and spending some money to show the town of Murphy that the off road community is out there and we are every bit as important if not more important than the fishermen.

maybe somebody should email the Extreme 4x4 guys and drop a hint.... if we dont tell them, they wont know.

Ya know..... This should become an annual thing. As a biker I have Daytona, Myrtle Beach, Sturgis, and so on..... every year I can go, and probably run into friends from the year before...... But with off road you have what??? Jeep Jamborees that change location each year,?

We could make this into a 4x4 rally, like with motorcycles, and every year we can go back. It will blow up eventually, with all kinds of vendors, magazine coverage, and so on.

Just a thought.

"I just left the Mayors office and he was very pleased with the event and even stated that he would not have any issues with having the Show and Shine in the middle of town. He even suggested shutting down Tennessee Street for the vehicles to set up. This was a very unexpected and positive with the Mayor. I still have to go in front of the City Commission in Feb to set the date and times, but he said he would be able to sell this to the commission for us. So, things are moving in the right direction for this event."

Did you meet with City Commission? So is there a parade or just the show and shine? What street?(Tennesse) What time? What about trailer parking? Think Wal-Mart would mind the trailers?

Okay - looking at the flyer, redisigning slightly to pass out to some of the 4WD groups around here....

If I understand this correctly, for the BBQ and Band at Crawfords, it costs $10 per person to get INTO the event and buy a raffle ticket, and then it is another $10 for the BBQ dinner, is that right?

everything will be open, except. Lower 2, 7 9 and parts of 8. These will be closed all year

You sure about that?

Tellico might not be totally open this weekend becasue of the rain that is predicted most of the week. Has anyone contacted the local Rangers to check on this yet?

I'm with the GBR and we are a Adopt a trail club for Beasley knob. BN is often closed for a day or two after heavy or long duration rain to let the trails dry out to help prevent rutting and siltation.

Is Tellico going to do the same? I would think they may take the same management approach since so far this seasonal closure is exactly the same way they are managing BN. This is becoming the standard deal with the FS.

I do plan to show my support and attend the events regardless. Look forward to seeing the crowds.

Just wanted to give a last minute heads up. I'm running the rock crawl challenge at Crawfords this year. We're going to try and start at 2:00pm on Saturday. There will be a 37 and under class and a 38 and larger class. $20 entry fee. 50% will go towards the Save Tellico fund. Of the remaining money: 1st place= 50%, 2nd place= 30%, 3rd place= 20%. If you want to compete come see me Saturday morning at the show and shine in Murphy. I'll be at the grey Bull Durham Racing trailer. Thanks for all the help everyone, Clayton.

well guys i just got home a couple hours ago, man it was fun but nasty weather. friday we ran trail four to trail 5 on to trail 6 and looped back down four. there was a nasty rock on the upper part of trail four with a dip right on the ledge of the cliff , my left rear wheel came about a foot and half off the ground and i had to take a differnt line to get around that spot, but that spot is dangerous!

saturday we woke up to find out some guys that were suppose to meet up at the cabin late that night got lost and showed up at about 10:30am , about that time the 4runner in our group brake his detroit locker on the rock garden at crawfords , so he was done for the day. so we went toward trail 4 cause we had a pretty much stock and slightly lifted tj with us and he proceeded to break both engine mounts, so he was done for the day! but we proceed up trail 4 with a group from ohio, this was a nice group of guys and turned out to be the most helpful guys i have ever met on the trails. well we all made it to guard rail and it was nasty, the bypass was so rutted out only a few made it up with out a winch. i myself proceeded to snap a drivers ujoint trying to make it up the bypass. but the guys that i dont even remember their name but ill tell you are the best in my book, the broke out the tools and air guns and went at it, i had my new axle in and ready to go in about 25 minutes.
we then proceeded to helicoptor pad and down school bus , it had about a foot of mud on it and we slide and bouced all the way down.

sunday was pretty much a short run on upper 2 to a really bad ledge and we turned around since we were alone and we back to the cabin and headed home. even with it raining i had a awsome weekend !!!!

heres some of the few pics i did take.

my group before the broken parts list started!

Just pause the video you are watching, and then hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. It is above the Num Lock.

Then I paste that image into Paint and save it.

Guys, we enjoyed hosting the Show N' Shine. Thanks for coming out!

We enjoyed Tellico this weekend even if it was a sloppy mess. The bypass at Guardrail was dug out like nuts and everyone was winching. Going down Pinchrock and Schoolbus was "Hang On, Nuetral and Ebrake". Repairing axle breakage at the top of Pinchrock in the rain and mud was worse, but we'd do it all again.

Not at all. :p I had the OD off and was going not fast at all. I wasn't late or in a hurry. It started to skid and the hill didn't help. If it had been just a shoulder or small ditch I would have been ok. An unfamiliar road, dark, rain, some mud and it being lifted didn't help.
