Its making me glad I can reload, but I have heard that the barnes bullets are finicky bullets to dial in.

I am stuck in d7 and d8. They listed all the d zones, which is pretty much the center of the state.

well hell, that does suck. Glad i can reload as well. I havn't heard that about the barns, but id imagine it would take some messing with lead bullet loads. Some loading books list triple shocks if im not mistaken.

looks like a lot of hunters will be plinking or target shooting...

What about target shooting, “plinking”, or firearms for personal protection? The Commission does not regulate these activities. Use of lead projectiles is legal unless another government entity has determined otherwise for lands they administer. The regulations prohibiting lead only relate to possession while engaged in specified hunting activities.

Yes, but it will be hard to explain why in the middle of dear season you are walking around in camo with a high power rifle for personal protection.

So my question for those of you who live in Kalifornia is, what about your fire arms? Will they handle other ammo besides lead? I know older shot guns here won't handle steel shot through their barrels. How will a family heirloom hand me down Hi-power handle what ever replaces the lead?

Second: what about all the lead all ready out there on the ground? WTF is going to go out and clean all that up so the precious Condor doesn't go the way of the Doodoo (SP) bird.

has anybody actually shot copper rounds at game animals? I did only one time afield. We are regulated to hunt with shotguns only in Delaware, rifles are not allowed. When Remington introduced the copper sabot, we all tried them and had the same results. Every deer shot was examined for wound channels and damage assesment to the surrounding tissue. In every case, the rounds punched completely through the deer. The petals didn't open up or break off. None were recovered in the animals. We had to go look for every deer shot with those. I'm not impressed by their performance.

You've GOT to be kidding me. :shaking: I have no problems with using steel shot for ducks. What in the world are flintlock/muzzeloader hunters going to use? Anything other than a .50cal round ball doesn't shoot for shit in my gun (not that I'd ever hunt in Kali).

Last post on this was 13 months ago but decided to put it here rather than start a new post on the same subject.

Major manufacturers bringing out new product lines of lead free ammo are not helping the cause.

California state wide ban on lead ammo?

I wonder if bismuth or tungsten could be used to make bullets. I know first hand it kicks ass as shot besides being stupid expensive. Seems like it would be better than a solid copper bullet anyway.

Oh yah FUCK condors. Why the fuck is everyone so obsessed with those garbage eating buzards? They are fucking hideous and apparently have no real motivation to survive. What fucking benefit do they provide to their local ecosystem?
