There was an article in this months Hot Rod about some guys that rent out a runway and run the "flashlight drags" I think it was in Reno. :confused:

I know that during the summer months Reno~Fernley Raceway opens up part of their road course for street legal drags, check their schedule for dates, it's usually on fridays tho'. www.reno-fernleyraceway.com (I think that's the link)

I think they do it over on Spice Island in Sparks. Always used to see burnouts and other crap there.

I quit the street racing thing shortly after I got my CDL, it was fun but not towards the end, most kids are retarded nowadays, I watched them race side by side with a 3rd and 4th car right behind the main cars real close, that's stupid... then the ocassional shout of hey he's got a gun !!!:eek::shaking: Ape I bet you remember when we used to drag on edison way ?? then spice island, or coney... the last race was on corporate, with my red camaro before I moved out here, and there was a short stint over on glendale where summit is....:D those were good times...but racing now is best suited on a track under safer conditions...( they do still drag down harmon rd. in Fallon)...SierraV they haven't dragged on spice island since the carger/challenger rammed into the wall (I was working for ConWay back then and watched him run his car then heard the boom :shaking: and I had just completed a run in my car heading to work...that was about 7-8 years ago this summer...

Back then it was the baby shit yellow with some primer spots and a black cowl induction harwood hood, he had monsterous slicks out back and it was brutally fast, only one other guy would race him and he had a blown sbc '66 chevelle, he used to work at summit, he ran the chevelle without the hood, and it was a small blower, I can't remember his name right now, it was primer gray.

I wasn't the fastest out there but it was fairly quick for what I had into it, I really could have used a locker and softer tires and it would have been a ton better (not to mention better valve springs...:shaking:)

Justin was kinda tall with reallllllly long hair, and he wore glasses, really cool dude and he chuckled when I said, NAH,I'LL PASS !! (Besides I don't think he would have been happy if I whooped his ass (Yeah Right!!)

Not that I could recall, there was an orange and black '70 Cougar with the plates saying XLR8... That was one fast cat !!!He beat up on quite a few guys on Spice Island back then... That one was a definite sleeper...:laughing:

did he have black rally stripes on it ?? and was it a 4 spd ?? if so I raced him on Glendale where summit racing is, (he hooked better than I did) but I still gave him a good run....Unsure of the Yellow firebird....

his car is fast too he moved up here from cal and worked at summit for a while now is doing his own thing. he hangs out with justin most of the time. his name is john. its white with gay ass fender flares :D he is a good guy

justin sold that dart a few years ago and now has a little colt with a turbo mitsubishi eclipse engine in it and it's very very slow :D lou had the chevelle and decided that reno sucked and moved to texas and a few other places and now is in vegas but he comes up for hot august nights. his chevelle was very fast it just looked like shit. and you cant forget scotts cuda with the 70's stripes now that car is fast. justin is the one that usually help put on all the fernley drags

Thats funny you know Lou, I just welded some engine mounts for him last weekend on his Mustang. That thing is going to be badass (low 8's maybe)! Scott is my uncle. That cuda was pretty badass, but doesn't compare to his new Chevelle. Its a small world on Pirate!

I remember doing a big burnout in front of justins house a couple of years ago in my blown 62nova.

Thats pretty cool I could not remember the names of most of them but I remember Justin's and his DART, and that Chevelle (Lou) those guys were really cool and they didn't give me a hard time with my car then, it was fast for what it had in it (not much) but it could hold it's own, but those guys had some serious fast cars...:eek:

I still have my car (sitting at my buddys house) in peices, and gathering more parts (gonna do it right this time) upon it's ressurection it's getting a full chassis (cage, frame, front end, and linked rear) Pro stock type schtuff.. and will ride on 15X5 Pro Stars w/ 5x27x15 M/T sportsmans up front, and 15x12 pro stars w/ screws & 31x16.5x15 Street E/T's out back (the chassis was bought from Jegs as well as the front end kit, and will have QA-1 coilovers F/R and full aluminum interior kit and dash)....(already have the parts !!!!) still need the 9" rear/engine (thinking of scraping up a few pennies and droppin in a crate 427 aluminum SBC from HARDCORE)...but thats a ways away !! when I'm old and gray !! with as much as I could dump into building a sbc, I'd have a warranty to boot and it would save a ton in weight...

:laughing: it's only $$$$ right...I was looking at it since it's an all aluminum block and light weight...origanl intentions was to run a big block (468 + ci) (eyeing the 572) but there again... weight...and I know killer small blocks will give a run for the $$$ if not tear up a BBC.

he didn't make it on the show(VEGAS) because he was not in the speed class that they wanted. I think they took 10.6-11.5, and he was 10.2 average on his passes.:shaking:

thats messed up. his coug is fast i know that. i talked to the guys from pinks at the PRI show in florida and they are supposed to have an all out race in sac. we are going and i'll be the negotiator :D that and they want free stuff from me so i told nate call me when ready. they are some cool guys really
