: 60 front
doc1endocr 01-13-2008, 04:45 AM First of all goodmorning to everyboby of this beautiful website, I am in Italy so sorry for my schoolastic english. I have a wrangler TJ 97, stokered to 4.8 Hesho engine , 4,5" RE short arm kit, Rock Jock 60 rear w ARB and 4,56 gears, 36 TSL tyres on beadlocks. Front i have a Dana 44 ( 30 spline inner-CTM-30 spline outer shaft, Warn CJ manual hubs) with 4,56 gears w ARB.
I,d like to upgrade my front axle and this is the possibilities : Rock Jock 60 ( 9000 USD), Dynatrac Pro Rock 60 ( same price) with 35 inner and 35 outer shaft or Solid axle 60 king pin ( 6800 USD ). I need ARB, 35 spline inner and outer, manual hubs, high steer ( like Teraflex system on my 44) to run with 37 bogger tyres and a lot of HP. Which is the right choice according to you ??
Thanks a lot for your kindness...

BossBuilt 01-13-2008, 10:31 AM I'm skeptical of the aluminum housing on the Rock Jock because of housing flex,(I'm not an expert on that subject so I can't elaborate)but I can tell you Dynatrac Pro-Rock 60's are beefy and the front is weighs in at around 500+ pounds...the back is not as heavy due two less hardware and smaller disk brakes("ford nine inch" on mine). ...I'm not sure what the Rock Jock weighs but it wasn't worth it to me. ...the thread recommended earlier is a good demonstration of someone thinking the weight issue through and changing direction completely.....another axle that some have considered is the Tera CRD 60..
doc1endocr 01-14-2008, 12:16 AM 500 pounds are reaaly a lot. My Rock Jock rear is 106 kg ( 220 pounds). A part from RJ aluminium front, do you know Solid 60 with king pin knuckle how much is ? and the ground clearance of the others ?
Blackjeep2 01-14-2008, 07:34 AM does anyone know the weight of a 79 ford king pin 60 front? That is the route I went - - but dont know the weight. Half of the price though!

My rear axle is a Rock Jock 60. I'm not as concerned with housing flex as I am the bolts that hold the tubes to the housing shearing. They held up fine when I snapped the pinion gear though :flipoff2:
jeepfamily 01-14-2008, 11:51 PM I thought they were making cast iron centers as an option?I would also check the tera 60 as well. The solid axle manuf. 60 does have some beefy knuckles though and I am a firm believer of kingpins.Hell most backhoes use them.
jeeptomster 01-15-2008, 01:45 AM Hi Doc!
I would go with a Solid 60! those RockJock housings on the front seems reale big and maybe you have some clearence problems... next is (what i now) Currie discontinued the alu-housings in favor of cast iron!
SEE YOU!!!!!!!!!!:smokin:
doc1endocr 01-15-2008, 05:34 AM Hi Tom, strange to see you in this website!!!:p Secondo te quanto peserà il Solid sennò ho visto un bel custom guarda su mad4wd..BYE
jeeper8650 01-15-2008, 10:29 AM Weight, fully dressed single wheel front Ford RC 60 complete, locking hub to hub 460-480lbs
doc1endocr 01-15-2008, 01:37 PM How many USD ? and who sell it ? Please . Otherwise 9+ spydertrac really gorgious..
doc1endocr 01-23-2008, 01:13 PM I saw nice solution : 9+ center w ARB, 35 spline inner 35 and outer shaft, 1 ton knuckles, CTM,F-350 outer, manual hubs , 5 on 5 1/2 whell bolt pattern from Currie. It allows to run 37 tires and 400 hp ; do you agree ?
raulv240 01-23-2008, 01:33 PM Build a 609
doc1endocr 01-23-2008, 01:47 PM What exactly is 609 ? Truehi9 ?
jeeper8650 01-23-2008, 01:55 PM a 609 is a ford 9'' center with dana 60 outters
doc1endocr 01-23-2008, 01:58 PM This is exactly what i mean !! I saw currie make it 9 center with outer F450 knuckles, 35 spline...Do you know other factory that sell il ??
jeeper8650 01-23-2008, 02:00 PM spidertrax, diamond axles and i know there are several others out there that make a 609. try searching 609
doc1endocr 01-23-2008, 02:03 PM ok i saw spidertrax really beffy axle but 9000 usd only materials + labor..to make them best, really fantastic but to much for me..
doc1endocr 01-23-2008, 02:34 PM but logically 609 with 9" HP center and outer 60 ?
Sahara01 01-24-2008, 05:40 PM I'm running a Solid Axle Industries front 60. IMO for the $ is is your best bet. Mine is a balljoint 60. I have had zero issues and the guy's at Solid are awesome to deal with...weighs in at about 463lbs IIRC.
