Way tooooooo lazy to pull it just to measure. :flipoff2:

Anybody know the length of the long side inner shaft on a 78-9 F250 D44?

34.75" from tip of splines to center of u-joint. That's just for the inner shaft without the stub.

33.91" is for an F150, not 250.

Just thought you may want to know. Go to the Warn site,http://www.warn.com. Click on About Us, then click on Literature, You will get to a page that has Adobe PDF files, scroll down 9 .pdf links. This should be the the axle.pdf files, 6 pages, and it has the measurements you want.
Now you can :) and go have a  , :smokin: , or whatever, and copy/download the files. Andy

Nope, but I had the shafts out of my new '78 F-250 Dana 44 last weekend, and I confirm the 34.75" mentioned above, the short side I got between 18.625 and 18.6875 (it was dark and without a joint in is tough to get dead on) I sure wish someone (hint to all PBBer's) wuold assemble a Dana 44 axle length chart that was complete, not just the ones Warn thinks they need to list.

Seems to me these are the Dana 44 lengths that are missing

Jeep J-trucks, passenger drop and driver's drop
Ford leaf sprung trucks - F-250's (are the HP's and LP's the same? Or the leaf sprung F-150's?)
Every Dodge
Zamboni's (Okay, those are probably custom)

Can anyone else think of an open knuckle Dana 44 application that's not in the Warn chart? Whose got what and what does it measure?

4Bangler, I was just thinking of putting up a web database where you could enter an axle type, vehicle it came from, short length, long length, wall thickness and all that crap. This would be for every size, not just 44's, but 60's, and all that jazz. Hmmm, with a POR request maybe I'll get off my ass and do it.

I've been around long enough that I don't want you as my friend! :flipoff2: Just kidding, Keith.

I created a new thread under General for this...

easy to measure without pulling.

Hook a tape measure to the "C" of the inner knucke, measure to the center of the two vertical bolts on the cover, and add 3.75".

I am getting no help from the Gen Forum. Anyone here want to help kick down on any lists besides what has already been mentioned?
