i've ran a sammy t case w/ bucket behind my 1.3 for years and never had any real probs. now i'm thinkin about a 1.6 w/ an auto.. i know people run them with a sammy case but will it realy lose alot of reliability.

No, you will not lose reliability from adding a 1.6 with auto.
