i have a chance to get a set of mog axles for a pretty good price. i was thinking about putting them under my fj62. but the off set of the mog axles has me worried. i was just throwing it up here to see if anyone else had any ideas. or should i just use the dana 60/70 that i have by the shed. the big plus on the mog axles is no need to regear and they have lockers f&r. so i would save some bucks in the long run. mike

would you save some bucks in the long run??
you not only have to buy the mogs, but you have to do something about the brakes, pinions and extra 5" of lift they give, i dunno, seems like you have to want the portal clearance pretty bad to give up the 60/70 for them.

the mogs would be a sweet combo, and they wouldnt come up cheap very often, you can buy the conversion to a standard pinion and you cant beat the clearance but high COG??
then again 60/70 combos dont come up at all over here, neither do the mogs, heavy........need lots of work, 35splines, lockers, gears, full float kit
depends what you got/want
what you want to do and how much you have to spend

How much wider are they than a D60?? I would guess this would only be a trail rig trailer type?

it is a street legal rig, but i trailer it to all the trails. i need lower gears and the width wouldn't hurt. i think i will lower it alittle if i go with the mog axles. i am just favoring it because i wont need to re gear or buy some new lockers. i have a but load of 2 1/2 ton rockwells that i could put under it for real cheap, so i keep thinking about them also. i really need the lower gears though. i am running all stock drive trane right now with 5.29s and i could stand to be lower. it works ok but i would like alittle lower. i am just worried about the drive shaft angles. i am at 107'' wb right now and really don't want it any longer. i can get the mogs for a grand. that is a deal for the gears and lockers alone. hell i could build a pinion disk brake set up for nothing and make my own wheels with locks. it is just and idea at this moment. just chucking it out there to see if anyone can come up with a good reason to shoot it down. thanks mike

mike how about hacking the rear portion off of your cruizer right behind the rear seat? then use a welded rockwell in the back and slide it back just a bit and that would give your the clearance you need and still be able to lower it down some. then get the sawzall out for the front fenders ans slap a set of 42's or 44's uner it. on the rear portion you could build a little flat bed to carry your trialbox, cooler etc. just an idea. after looking at your rig and how the rear fenderwell is formed it seems like the easyiest way to run bigger tires without any more lift and possibly lowering it. you could tube the back out after you cut it off to both incorporate your cage into and kinda give the rear a finished look. just an idea.

well after much thought, i have decided to put in a set of rockwells. i have lockers and a full hydro set up sitting around, the off set is right for the land cruiser t case. so it will be one of my low buck specials. i think i will do what you are talking about high 5 i need to bob the rear just a bit, but keep plenty of room for the third seat. and a set of 42s maybe 44s, i will see what the gear charts say. i can't go any higher over all than i am right now. what the hell it should be kinda kool. mike
