Anyone weld AL with a Ready Welder

I bought a ready welder off craigslist for $100.. The guy was using it for AL work so I gave it shot. I was welding 1/8 to 1/4 with 24 volts and had terrrible results.

Anyone ever try one of these on AL.. I have used it on steel and its great. I am using ESAB AL wire and ARGON and i can barely get penetration with 24 volts.

I am also noticing that alot of ot the 1lb spools fit real tight in the gun and the hole needs to be enlarged.

What size wire are you using? You may need to drop down a size.
