I'm thinking of building my stock axles on my 71 fj40:
mini disc swap
longs
arb front
aussie rear
4:88
My rig sees mostly the road and is used offroad on hunting/camping trips, but I don't want to be limited by my axle strength. Will my stock axles handle 35's after this level of build? What kind of total price am I looking at? I realize that some of you have already done very simliar imporvements to these and might know the total investment.

i think that's completely over-building them for your needs and purposes. i'd install a set of mini outers along with lockers and call it good. no need to go with chromo axles or better birfs as long as you don't beat the snot out of them.

all 373s, 456s and 488s have fine spline pinions........

btw, 488s and 35" tires will really limit your freeway speeds. i'd leave the 411s in there.

The cruiser has a 4l60 so freeway speeds are no problem...:D
