Just converted my front to high steer arms and want to upgrade my tie rod and drag link but, don't want to spend alot of money on it. Where should I go? My set up has the draglink connect to the tie rod. Thanks for any info on this.

As in YJ style?

I used a Rockstomper tie rod and drag link. I love the stoutness and snowplowing effects I have with those troublesome boulders.

I'd disagree with that. The alumiflex will bend and spring back (which is fine), but it also breaks (not good). A chromoly will bend (hard to do though) but will not break. If your t/r breaks, your SOL, unless you have a spare. If your t/r bends, you can straighten and at least make it home.

How do you convert a CJ D30 to high steer? Did you just use D44 outters with flat top knuckles?

Thanks for the info. and yes, Eric, I used Dana 44 flat top knuckles and high steer arms that I got at Grady's Extreme Offroad. Pretty slick set up. I bought a used set and had to exchange them for Grady's that were already drilled and tapped with the arms.

ive never broke mine and i bend the fuk out of it all the time.I also got a spare which i lend to my buddys that bend there POS chromoly tierods all the time.

Kinda like your suspension right? I mean, your springs get cycled back and forth and how many of them do you break. With the AlumiFlex you get some heat treated aircraft aluminum, which is pretty tough. I think you will not have to worry about it unless it gets bent over 5-6".

Here's a better idea: Watch where the fawk your drivin' and you won't have to sweat so much about it. I would think it would take alot of continuous bending back and forth to cause that alumiflex to break...The occasional twang would be harmless. Of course I'm talking out of my butt, because I've never even seen one <IMG SRC="smilies/thefinger.gif" border="0"> JMO though!

BTW, I am friends with Dave over at www.xtvengineering.com (http://www.xtvengineering.com) and yes, he has some mean stuff. I just think if you beef up your tie rod a whole lot, you have to do something with the drag link as well. Dave can hook you up for this too, though.
