I have a 95 and am just wondering what kinf of mileage you guys are getting with yours. Mine is a x-cab long bed

On the hwy running 75mph unloaded, I get about 16mpg. Towing the gooseneck with two Jeeps, I got 8 at 70mph.

dunno what it get's with 14ft flatbed and single jeep. I'd guess somewhere around 12...

They say that you can chip 'em and get a few more miles per gallon. I haven't done this yet. All my money ends up in the "Just Empty Every Pocket"

driving real easy i can get 20, driving normal 16, towing 40 ft goooseneck with a fj with no engine at 75 mph with the ac on i got 11. My last company truck in Elko was a 97 f250 crewcab 4x4 with 4.10 and an auto with a chip got 16 around town and 11 on the highway but that was high speeds, about 9 towing my 35ft fifth wheel travel trailer. fuel quality makes a difference also.

I have a 96 with 3.55's. My running average over the first 140,000 miles is 17.1 mpg. Best is 20.5, worst was 8.

The best we got was 21, that was a mix of hwy/city driving, fully loaded, it gets 12-13. It's a 2002 Crewcab short box 2wd.

What does your foot weigh :D ? Seriously, gearing matters (do you have 4.10's), and there are a lot of little things that can screw up your mileage (cam position sensor for instance). By the way, howdy neighbor!

i get 15+ in my 99.5 f350 crew cab 4x4. this is mixed miles and i have a heavy foot.

I owned a '95 F350 CC 4x4 w/ an auto and 4.10 gears. When it was stock it got around 18-19 mpg unloaded and 15-16 mpg loaded.

A couple of years after that truck I bought a '99.5 F350 CC 4x4 w/ an auto and 3.73 gears. That truck averaged just 13 mpg, maybe 15 mpg if I really babied it. On this truck mileage didn't matter so much wether the truck was loaded or unloaded. Underload might of affected the truck 1 or 2 mpg, at most. (I sold this truck to a board member, maybe he'll chime in an say how its doing today - never mind I see he already did)



I have no idea why the newer truck got worse mileage, especially considering its more highway friendly gearing.

Last tank I checked was 17 - 18 mpg, no towing, city and highway.

It seems to be getting better mileage after the fuel tank and fuel line mods (air in fuel).

I always plan on checking the mileage but then the truck sits on a construction site idleing....

Kind of 2nd hand info, but my father-in-law has a '97 F-250, reg-cab, longbed, 4wd with the PSD/AT, not sure what gearing, and 235/85R16's. He says ~18 MPG running empty on the highway. Not sure about towing MPG.

Are you running the automatic? From what I have seen you usaly get better gas mileage out of a standard trany, more power where you need it to, more strength to, more reliability to. Ok ill stop there I could go on fore ever about the reasons to have a stick in your tow rig.

Seems that from what I have seen - with a PSD you are really gambling on fuel mileage.... You *might* be one of the lucky ones and get 18-20, or you *might* end up with one that gets 12-14...

I think the difference in mileage is due to several factors - difference in truck options, load, fuel quality, climate, driving style/conditions, etc. etc. These factors seem to have more of an effect on diesel engines than gas engines. And of course there is the factor of some diesel owners trying to justify the $ spent to buy the engine by "creatively" calculating mileage.

I've checked the mileage on my 99 PSD several times and the results have ranged from a high of 22 mpg to a low of 12 mpg. I haven't checked my mileage now in several months, and I really couldn't care less what it gets.

I get between 5.1 to 6.8 mpg in my Pete 425Cat/ RTO15715/ 4.11 Eaton DS402/ 11R24.5

I can't beleive how much those power strokes suck up fuel! What a waste of money! My 97 Chevy 454 dually gets 12mpg and 10 towing. Plus I have real hp for regular daily driving (and it sounds good)

I always thought diesel's got alot better fuel economy than that.
