: East Coast F-Toys at Harlan KY April Fools
mtbrjon 01-16-2008, 06:44 AM Any East coast Ftoys ready to make a trip to Harlan KY for the April 1st ride? I am undecided at this point but could be convinced if there are a couple others that will attend. This event has a huge Toyota turn out and would be very good for the East coast Ftoy comp class. I may even be willing to supply another chassis for the raffle!!! We could even set up our own unofficial comp on something fairly easy like the lower rock garden just to see what you're in for this season. Let me know soon and i'll get in touch with Ronnie to make sure he knows we're coming.
ftoy507 01-16-2008, 07:43 AM I cannot decide.
I really want to attend.
Problem is Tellico. The same weekend Tellico is opening back up. There is a push to have a parade on the Murphy side and some public officials to promote the POSITIVE economic impact the off road community provides Murphy, NC and Sweetwater TN.
I am still undecided. Tellico may not be here much longer. KY is not having any problems that I am aware of. I am leaning more toward Tellico.
mtbrjon 01-16-2008, 08:05 AM Will the Tellico thing be trail riding or just hanging out?
Jeep07 01-16-2008, 08:18 AM I'm going to Harlan. It was kinda poor planning for the tellico guys to schedule something that the same weekend as the toyota run that has been on the calendar for a long time now.
John I know some people are coming back to harlan hoping another chassis will be in the raffle ;)
ftoy507 01-16-2008, 08:41 AM Will the Tellico thing be trail riding or just hanging out?
Both trail riding and hanging out.
I understand your stance on poor planning. Please consider if we dont make a turn out there may not be a Tellico in the near future.
I would prefer to do the Toyota run. I feel the Tellico run is important to the future of East Coast Wheeling.
mtbrjon 01-16-2008, 12:45 PM Anybody else planning on Harlan?
Shoope1 01-16-2008, 08:48 PM Both trail riding and hanging out.

I love that the wheeling community wants to show what we are made of.
However the fight to save Tellico is far more than one weekend. You have a year before the main trails open up. Why miss out on a yota event. Their is plenty of jeeps looking for something to do that weekend.. :D
If you go to that parade then I would understand... The cause is well worth it. But our cause is as well. This yota event helps fund our work on the park.
Our park is free to ride so we have to raise money to help out. The county is a major help but cant do it all. So remember both are a worthy cause.
peace..

I sure hope that you guys come out.. I know its a long haul but I think its worth it. We really could use your help with the chassis too. Mike said he would do the same deal again this year if he had help.

Good for you guys for making that a consideration. :smokin:
I missed the WE-Rock Goldendale comp in '07 to do trail work with the FS. it all adds up.
mtbrjon 01-17-2008, 06:09 AM Ronnie PM me your # I can't find it.
zman2day 01-17-2008, 07:42 AM Myself and Supra4x4 are heading up to harlan that weekend. Never been there before. I wouldnt count on the f-toy being ready yet, but who knows. If not we will be each towing our 85 4runners up there.
If my f-toy chassis ever makes it here, I can start throwing my stockpile of parts at it.
Shoope1 01-17-2008, 05:45 PM Ronnie PM me your # I can't find it.
ok
mtbrjon 01-18-2008, 06:53 AM Talked to Ronnie last night and it sounds like this years Fools ride will be even better than last year! The club has built a rock garden that is easy to access, I think he said it's down near the staging area in town that we could set up a mock comp course on. Sounds like the raffle will be even bigger and better than last year. I'm talking to Mike at Hendrix today to confirm the chassis giveaway! If you've never been to Harlan you will be very surprised at how the town welcomes the 4x4 crowd. Last year we had large groups of rigs rolling thru town to the trails and it was almost like a giant ongoing parade. Good (cheap) local restaurants, nice people, plenty of cabins or homes to rent, lots of places to camp, best of all MILES of trails. The Alpine crew will be on hand with our Ftoys and some other buggies, anxious to hit all the nasty stuff. I'll be bringing along some other stuff for the raffle, more info on that later. Counting the days.......:D:grinpimp::D
mtbrjon 01-18-2008, 06:54 AM Come on Ftoys!! I know there were 12 chassis added to the East coast area in 07. Where are you guys?
ftoy507 01-18-2008, 06:15 PM I will be considering both events.
Maybe if I write a few letters to the congressmen of TN and NC I can do the KY run. I was there before Christmas. The trails are awesome. The town is very 4x4 friendly.
Where are you staying?
I may try to get reservations for the Motorhome at the Putney Trail Head, if not I will stay at Wal Mart and ride the gravel to the Putney Trail Head.

Stay on the evarts side.. The verda field is where the raffle etc will be. Plenty of room for your big rig.
ftoy507 01-18-2008, 08:09 PM Any hookups? Water elec etc? If yes or no do you know the name of the campground.
Doesnt really matter. Always nice to burn someone elses juice and not my generator gas.
ftoy507 01-18-2008, 08:20 PM Went to the Harlan site.
Are you refering about North or South Evart campground?

Verda field is the event field where the majority of the people camp. if you park in the right place there you can grab electric. South Verda campground is very close to the bailey creek entrance and has elec/water/catv hookups. Last time I stayed there it was $20/night for a spot.
toyotanuts 02-07-2008, 04:33 AM Looks like we are going:)
ftoy507 02-07-2008, 05:08 AM I am in. Im trying to find verda field info?
I would like to make reservations for the big rig.
mtbrjon 02-07-2008, 06:02 AM Post up when you get that info we'll have to find a place big enough for the 44' hauler.
mtbrjon 02-07-2008, 06:09 AM I just talked to Ronnie and he should post up some info here today. He said we should have no problems pulling big haulers in that there's plenty of room and should have elec. hookups but no water.
ftoy507 02-07-2008, 07:04 PM Looking forward to that info.
Ronnie can we reserve a spot? PM me a phone # and I will get you money info etc.
Does the evarts field area have a website or can you give me directions / gps coordinates?
mtbrjon 02-07-2008, 07:52 PM Did you check out the post on the "events" forum thread for info?
Shoope1 02-07-2008, 07:57 PM The verda field is huge.. It would be nice all the ftoys hang together..
You will not have any problems getting your tractor trailer like haulers in there :D..... If you need any help call me here 606-573-5986 call late of the evenings..

ftoy507 02-08-2008, 03:56 PM What day will the Ftoys arrive. I am putting plans together now. I need room for a 40 ft motorhome and a 20ft trailer. Preferably with power.

Sorry guys, at this point we are going to miss this event. We took first place in our class in the first of four events in the series. We must show up for the next comp on April 5. There is a $1500-2000 prize for first place in the series. This depends on number of competitors. Currently there is a guarenteed $1175 for first place. The park owner is taking all the entry fees from competitors in all four events and dividing by four. This amount will be paid to first place in each of four classes. We had 47 competitors last comp.
