I've started a tech page on the OLD Warn cable-controlled winches, from 1974-older, to assist those with questions on parts, etc. If you have any input, etc. please let me know so I can include it.

(I've seen a handful of questions on these over the past months and finally got my info gathered in one place.)

(yes, it's double posted on the Cruiser board, but these are universal to lots of trucks....)

Interesting info. 4wd center of MN still has a brand new belvue hanging on the wall with the original $398 price tag. he is also a great source of old Willys parts. I'd add to your arcticle to ask for John, anyone else there is a waste of time with the old parts.

I *think* I still have an old photo copy of the original complete teardown and maintenance manual for those old Bellvue style winches... After I get back from vacation I will try to get it scaned in and sent over to you if that will help anyone out :)

I got one on the front of my jeep :)

Had to have a machine shop make the bushing for it cause it was wore out. Other than that it works fine

I thought I had a copy of the teardown manual as well, but can't find it yet....course, that's not the only thing I lost during this winters remodeling project.

If you do locate it, I'd LOVE a copy or scan!! :D

I have one in the garage now, getting setup as a receiver-spare. Upgraded to a 8274-50 as my primary, but that old one still works excellent!
