im having difficulty with my front driveshaft. my 6.0/t400/np205 are being stupid, and the front shaft is going to be hitting the trans and oil pan. does anyone have any decent pics of a front driveshaft of a t400/np205 fj40? if you own one, did you clock the engine left/right? or push the tail shaft of the tcase left/right?
i need some pics! thanks!

well thats about what im looking at....... putting a carrier support bearing on the frame rail, and getting the d/s to swing away from everything. what a pain in the ass....
but i know people have done this swap before, i dont see what the deal is, why mine is so fawked compared to most when it comes to d/s clearance

I'm not sure how well you can tell what is going on in this pic but it's a t350 and a stock case. The oil pan is dented in with a hammer and there is an 1110 ujoint on the tcase. It clears but it leaks. I'll sell you the whole setup with 2 core th350s if you want:smokin::grinpimp:

When I had my TH400 with Toyota 3 speed tcase, it was notched. Not sure if you'll be able to do this or not. Are you using the 3 speed driveshaft?

that combo should have absolutley no clearance issues at all. afterall, it's a combo that gm ran for quite a few years with a one piece front driveline.
big block bob runs a 396-th500-np205 in his 40 with a one piece front shaft with no issues. i've run rubicon with him in that rig so i know this for a fact.
i think you need to post some pics of what's going on there. is your t-case clocked or at the stock angle?

I have the same combo and ran both big and small blocks with a one piece front shaft(front 60though). Only time I had to notch the tranny pan was with a stock lc t/case and stock front end. And then it was just rubbing on the corner of the trans pan. So I cut it out flipped it around and welded it back in.

well thats my situation at the moment, im running the stock front axle right now untill i can afford and build a 60. ill be going full width when the 60 comes in.
go to my build thread, and you can see my issues. i have lots of pics with my problem.
the case is not clocked.

depending on how "much" is going to hit. You could try a smaller diameter. i have the same issue and dont want a 2 piece shaft. im going to run all spline shaft past the pan and then add the slip end.

i was talking to jesse at Hi Angle, and he said we're gonna run around a 2 1/4 shaft. if you go look at my pics, even a freakin 1 inch peice of tubing is a crappy deal :(

then it sounds like its time for a 60 front instead of dropping a ton of cash on a fancy d-line you will only use for a little while.

driveshafts right now......... prolly less than 600 bucks or so?
60 right now...... 1000.00 just for the 60
gears and bearings 350.00
brakes 300
steering 300
tierods and ends 200
see my problem? i can always still use this driveshaft on the 60 front end when i get it.
