I tried a search and came up with nothing on this. I was wondering what all is involved in switching a front 44 from 6 to 8 lug. Or would it be easier to switch my rear 60 to 6 lug?

I'm converting my 6 lug chevy 44 front to 8 lug also. It depends on what your 44 is out of and what year. if you have a 78 up chevy it should have the right spindles. also the calipers should work also. You'll need 8 lug rotors, hubs, and backing plates. all of which can be had from a 78 chevy 3/4ton. advance auto wants $97.99 for a hub/rotor assembly. oh yeah your locking hubs will work also.
good luck,

It's got to be a ford axle (driver's side diff). Well it doesn't have to be, but I'm not into massive axle surgery right now. Does anyone know if 3/4 ton fords came with 6, I've seen a lot with 8.

And BTW, I can't use a reverse rotation as the cut off for gears is 5.39's and I want 5.89's.
