I need some quick help. I either have to patch up the 30 spline front 60 for this weekend or just bite the bullet and convert to 35 spline. What I need to know is 'EXACTLY' what components I need to change a stock 30 spline Ford Dana 60 king pin front (circa 1978) to 35 spline stub shafts. Yes, I will need new locking hubs....what else, what years, what kind etc.?

If you have access to the parts the way i did it was use dodge or GM knuckles out. The GM/dodge spindles are longer which is what you need to fit the 35 spline stubs. I havent seen it done but I have heard about guys using the 35 spline stubs and just cutting them down. This might work but it doesnt leave much spline contact for your lockout. You could also machine a spacer that spaces the spindle out from the knuckle. I may be talking in circles here but basically the 35 spline stub is too long for the ford spindle. There is a guy out east that told me he was working on 35 spline stubs for the ford 60. Do a search on google for 4wdfactory. I bought all my 35 spline conversion stuff from him. Good prices, great service.

I did this to my '79 dana 60 and short of putting all chevy or dodge outers on your Ford housing, just pony up for the WMS or Dynatrac outer stubs and replace the lock out hubs with the 35 spline ones and you are done! :D

Looks like there isn't going to be a quick way. I'll patch it together with stock stuff for this weekend and start looking for some GM knuckles out. Thanks.
