: 30 to 35 spline front 60

I need some quick help. I either have to patch up the 30 spline front 60 for this weekend or just bite the bullet and convert to 35 spline. What I need to know is 'EXACTLY' what components I need to change a stock 30 spline Ford Dana 60 king pin front (circa 1978) to 35 spline stub shafts. Yes, I will need new locking hubs....what else, what years, what kind etc.? And if someone can find it in the archives point me there, I could'nt find anything.

Wagoner Machine tells me they have a line on 35 spline outer and inner axle shafts for ford or Chevy. The inners where in the mid $300 as were the outers, why waste money buying Chevy Spindle's then having to redrill then and find the chevy hubs when it's about a wash in dollars and you get Alloy shafts .

Did a search first and all that came up was a bunch of newbie crap as ususal. And I double posted cause not everyone reads the Ford section and I'd like to hear from someone with something constructive to say on the subject not a bunch of bullshit like you posted. And I would like to get it done so I can wheel this long weekend.

Sure knuckles out, anyone have some I can get by Thursday morning????

So maybe I better re-phrase the question. I want to do a quickie front 60 35 spline conversion. What new parts do I need to get to make it a bolt on?

huh:confused:

You get chevy knuckle/spindle/hub/caliper/brakes and you don't have to re-drill sh!t. If they really do have a line on custom 35 spline alloy stubs for Ford Spindle/hubs please post up firm info on cost/availability in a separate post. I'm sure there are quite a few besides myself who would be interested.

FearMe-
The easiest way to get it done is custom stubs if "kcruiser" is speaking the truth. Otherwise you need all that chevy BS and it does get pricey. It would be easier to just replace your busted stub/locking hub with another 30 spliner.

I have 35 spline Ford outers on my truck. I ordered a kit from Differential Engineering in FL. It came with the Warn lockouts and shafts for $500. Well once I got it I realized how simple it was to do myself for much cheaper. The lockouts can be bought for $200 or less. The kit also uses Spicer Chevy length 35 spline outers which probably cost about $70 each. To make up for the different length of the outers, they cut like 1/4" off the end of the shaft. Then the inner bearing race is replaced with a wider one that spaces the hub and rotor out aprox. 3/8". I don't have any part #'s for this stuff, but maybe the guy would tell you.

His name is Steve Gerstner. Great guy and will have the stuff you need in stock (I was there about a week ago). The inner bearing race and spacing was the part I was sketchy on. Sounds good though.

I thought the same thing and was a little disapointed when I first saw how it all went together. Mainly because it made my front axle even wider than it already was. I also had to make spacers to make my calipers line up correctly, but I have Chevy brakes. The kit works though and I would do it all over again if I had to. By far your cheapest alternative and you probably won't break em.

You do have to redrill the spindle pattern when you use just the spindles and NOT the knuckles. Just like krcruiser stated.

and did you notice what the first thing he said was...KNUCKLES...=NO DRILLING:D

WMS does have the outers and they have for a while but last I heard they were about $500 for the two outers...not worth it IMO:D:D:D
