Ok so i didnt find any info, may have over looked it. also havn't studied up too much on the CTD between the 5.9 and 6.7.
my question is:

do they both run the same bell housing?

I am wondering because my friend and i both have 07 CTD with the 5.9. we also both have smarty's and have both killed our trans under 10K miles.
id like to just go out and buy my ATS but ive herd these new Aisain trans are supposed to be stout. dont think they will hold a smarty but im not sure. and it would be cool to have that 6spd auto.

I'm sure the computers and what not would not match. The bell housings may be the same bolt pattern but that is probably where it would stop. Get a stock tranny. Put a good TC and Valve Body in it and drive with a little sence. What are you running your smarty on?

I just got my bone stock 07 5.9 out of the shop after the tranny :nuke: at ~20K miles, disgusted enough with the dealer that this years truck will definitely not be a Dodge.

I'm running the smarty of level 9, i got a warranty so i don't mind blowing them up, after i get my taxes back i'm buying a ATS, but i was asking this ? because my buddy isn't fortunate enough to afford buying one anytime soon and his warranty is about up and he has asked me to ask around, yes i too wanted to know. i kinda figured the computers might be a problem. thank you though

I fI was him i would get a good Valve body and Torque Convertor. You should try turning down the smarty. Always running it on 9 on an otherwise stock truck will give you more problems then tearing up tranys.... I bet your EGT's are through the Roof. You would probably have a better runnig truck all around on 5 or 7. My buddy runs his truck on 9 (valve body and TC) and I run mine on 5 with a bone stock Auto and can run right with him if not in front of him most the time, He has to back out because of temps. Also Thanks for making the price of warrenties go through the roof. :flipoff2:

No problem,:flipoff2:
ya i know that i shouldn't run it on 9 all the time, but what the hell. the only thing that i have done to drop my EGT's was strait pipe it still using the factory 4inch. don't know how much that really helped but did that much,im still pretty new to the diesel world so im learning.

Put a pyrometer on it, do one of your typical smokeshow/burnout/high speed run and tell us what is gets up to.
