My 99 PSD 4 door, 4x4 has 3.73's currently and I am planning on having Gearman install 4.10's.................It has 35 x 12.50's and this swap should help in the power dept?
Any one wanna chime in and say yeah or nay.........

I also have a PSD and would like to run 35's but I was thinking of 4.56s. Has anyone switched R&P and wished they had gone higher or lower.

I am going to go with the 4.10's..............4.56's might be a little tall ans you would lose some freeway speed.

I wouldn't do it. IMHO, it isn't worth the money. I have 3.55's (with stock tires) and tow 10,000 lbs. I have 140,000 miles on mine. Since I do most of my driving empty, I LOVE the taller gears. Just keep it out of O.D. and spend the money on a chip or some other upgrades. If you guys haven't been to http://forums.ford-diesel.com/ubbthreads/ you should check it out. Most guys who have gone to lower gears say they have regretted it.

I have 4:10s in my 97 PSD CC 4X4
Stock dia tires and tow in OD all the time.
I just shut OD off at slower speeds...
The tranny never hunts and the TCC stays engaged.
So, nothing is being hurt.
Some rigs need to stay out of OD when towing and some don't.
Drives me nuts that so many folks just say NEVER TOW IN OD.
Put a small boat or snowmobile trailer behind my truck and it wouldn't even know it was there....
Should I stay out of OD?
What if I load a couple of parts engines in the bed...

Head wind...
Weight, gearing, etc, and make an informed decision.
