So it started off as a 1991 GMC Jimmy with the following

Dana 60 front w/ Posi & 4.56's
35 spline Alloy inner and outter axle shafts
35 spline Lock outs by ATOR
Rock crusher diff cover
14 Bolt rear w/ detroit & 4.56's
Rear Pinion Guard by DIY4X
Front 6 inch lift springs
Rear 3 inch springs w/ 4 inch shackle flip by ORD
Extended brake lines
Blazen offroad Winch bumper
12,000lb Warn Winch
38.5 Super swamper TSL's
High steer by ORD
Hydro Assist by ORD
2 wheel steering pump conversion

So, the end of november came around and i started the hunt for a new body. Planned on a s10 truck cab but what luck! Mentioned to my uncle and he took me around back of his shop and said "Here, you can have this" And there was a 1988 S-10 Blazer 4x4 with 0 dents, 0 rust, 90,000 miles on it. Just no title... i about died.

Dropped it off at AOI and then the fun began. I took 90% of the jimmy apart so AOI wouldnt have to do all the work. Got it to them with nothing but the cab and the core support still on the body. They began the current mods....

PRP High back Comp seats, extra large :P
Spool for the D60
16G fuel cell
Body swap (S-10 blazer onto the GMC Frame
Full roll cage, custom built
All custom body mounts
Front and rear custom bumpers
Cut the fire wall out to move the body forward on the frame
Cut a foot off the rear of the frame, 6-8 inch's off the front
B&M Floor shifter
Accu meter Gauges for the new dash (Volt/water/oil pressure/trans temp/5 inch monster tach
Cut the rear floor out to allow the body to sit low on the frame
H1 8 bolt Hummer rims, Dean inserts from pirate, and copper head 3/8th centers recentered to 4 inch backspace
When tax's arrive, 42-44inch TSL's

im sure im forgetting stuff, if i rememeber ill edit this post lol but now for the pictures....

Here is the jimmy, all perty and hawt.... conversation starter lol. More rumors came out that day.... 2 year resto, omg what an idiot, that thing is to pretty ect http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd285/Loose_Nut/IMG_1308.jpg

And this was the end of October, It got really beat up on the 2 trail rides in November but i dont have the pics. The body was basicly held on with ratchet straps and prayer at that

this is the Blazer i got from my uncle, SCORE!!!

Nice build, why swap the K5 body off for the S10?

Jimmeh
01-19-2008, 05:28 PM
Trails are to narrow, The body was gone under neither, seats were pushing through the floors, there was no less then 4 deleware license plates in the body, bondo, newspaper..... its was a turd. All the body mounts were busted or about to bust.

who needs tires anyway :flipoff2:

in the process of re-centering my h1's. the inserts from Dean arrived last week, i got some 3/8th centers from copperhead fab, new o-rings ect then ill be ready to go.

Im actually going to have this thing up at RC for the 15th and 16th. I added some rock sliders to the to do list last week :grinpimp:

After i get it back i still need to repaint the entire thing, going to go Military green with Black H1's i think.Trim the wheel fenders, hammer back the firewall some, bump up to the 42's and be done till 2009. Then the 4 links and full hydro get put in hopefully :grinpimp:

here is some older pics from the start of it all....

you can see how far the frame comes up into the body from this shot
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd285/Loose_Nut/Body%20swap/1217071223.jpg

a shot from the other side of the front. The wheelbase on the jimmy was 105 inch's, the s10's was 101ish...
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd285/Loose_Nut/Body%20swap/1217071220.jpg

yea, the motor's not gonna clear, hence the fire wall cutting
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd285/Loose_Nut/Body%20swap/lift2.jpg

You can see here how much of the frame was chopped off. Basicly up to the shackle mounts
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd285/Loose_Nut/Body%20swap/lift9.jpg

and this is for you 684FRO, tires are overrated :P

How's your access to the engine with the body on? any problems if you need to get it in or out or could you just pull the core support off to help slide it out when needed?

Jimmeh
01-27-2008, 12:50 PM
Core support can come off easily enough. In the future i may just make the new firewall removable and just have it bolt on so i can access the back if needed. You can still get to most of it. ill take pics this week of the engine bay.

If they are close to the Lisbon/Woodbine area the next time I go home I will have to check out their shop.

Thanks,

Back in the day there was only Trick Trucks, Eastern Offroad or Pro Start (drag & motor shop). Glad to see an actual fab shop.

Jimmeh

Yea, these guys are the only fab shop where anyone can walk in and get work done like this that i know of.

I walked in, asked them to do a body swap, and a roll cage and they ran with it and went according to my budget. they do it right, and they do it awesome. As much as i would have loved to have the ability to do it myself theres no way i could ever match there fab work.

They are allways busy, there work is top notch.
