I moved my tank up into the back of my TJ when I stretched it, just curios I've heard but shortening the filler neck you can lose tank capacity in the stock tank. Is this true, thanks in advance just wanna make sure before I go cutting it off.

Havent heard of that one. Not sure how that would work. I did the same but i attached the filler neck to the tub edge without shortening it.

Actually, I thought it was the other way around, the difference between the 2 TJ fuel tanks is the larger tank has a Shorter inlet hose inside the tank.

in the 15 gal. tank the inner input tube can be pulled out to give you 5 more gal. once you pull out the sending unit just reach in there and give it a tug. then i put about 4" back so when clamping everything back down it would clamp tight

OK, after looking back at my post I can tell that fifth of Crown I had made that post hard to understand. My question is, I relocated the stock tank up into the back of my jeep, in order to clean it up and redo the inlet I wanna shorten the filler necks. I have not and will not modify the in tank fuel pump. By shortening the big hose and small hose will I affect the amount of fuel capacity the tank will tank? I don't think it will but I have heard it does. Can someone clarify this for me?

No, fuel is stored in the tank not the fill hose.

I think he's concerned with shotening it too much, so the tank wont get filled because your hoses end lower than the top of the tank. If so, you could probably eyeball it to make sure that doesnt happen. I moved my tank to where my rear seats used to be, and I just have a hose with a cap I use to fill up until I get my propane 350

YOU ARE CORRECT! So with that being said even if it is close to lower, is should still fill up the same. Will the pressure gauge still kick it off at the gas station or will I manually have to fill it up?

The pumps at the gas station stop when it back up, depending on how long and wide the neck is it might spill a little, but it will still shut off.

I believe the tank mod trick only applies to YJ tanks.

Im planning to cut down my filler tubes as well, I dont see it causing a problem.

I am not sure about the differences between the TJ and YJ tank setups, so this may not have any bearing on the issue at hand...
I relocated my YJ fuel tank into the tub and shortened the hoses, and now much quicker to spill out at extreme angles. I plan to extend the filler/vent hoses up higher to minimize this in the future.
