: Adding Air Conditioning to TJ???
superzuki 07-02-2002, 11:15 AM I have a '98 Black Sahara w/o AC. The wife is pregnant and it is getting hotter every day..................... Has anyone added AC to a TJ? Can I steal the parts from a salvage yard? How hard is it to install. I put it on a "94 Toyota once and it wasn't too bad. Is the kit JC whitney sells any good??????
I can't find anything doing a search. Lots of OBA stuff but nothing AC....
Thanks
Jason
TexasBlake 07-02-2002, 11:34 AM I took out my YJ a/c, maybe you can rig it up to work. If so lemme know.
badassjeepguy 07-03-2002, 01:25 AM congrats on the bambino but you aint gonna find many people on here pissin with that.... hell i tore mine apart to make my oba :D
i just slapped a/c into my 2000 tj :flipoff2: see im from montreal and moved down here to the carolinas,we canadians are not used to 100 degree weather .anyways it was a joke to install if i was you i would look on line for everything you need and put aside a couple hours it is real easy to do.also remember you need the unti from your year as jeep changed the ac set ever year or every other year.97-98 1 style 99-00 another and half of 00-02 same go figure .if you need any more info let me know i can halp ya out....:barf: :barf: :barf:
let me ktell you its a beautifull thing and you can still have oba with a york:flipoff2:
Kilby 07-03-2002, 07:10 AM HELL YEAH!!
there's room for AC and OBA in my TJ. Gotta have it in NC, baby!
:flipoff2::flipoff2: that hotter than two rats humpin' in a burlap sack weather.
bahahahahah! YOU GOT THAT RIGHT DUDE
HOTTER THEN A FRESH FAWKED DICK.....:mad3: :mad3:
Keith Strong 07-03-2002, 07:54 AM I am pulling the whole system out of my YJ, I will get it to ya pretty cheap if it will work in the TJ, but I seriously DOUBT it. Oh, my compressor broke though ;)
Firetoad 07-03-2002, 07:56 AM Go to http://www.ackits.com
I bought a kit from them for around $750 shipped or so and it was 100% complete (minus refrigerant). They have awesome customer service. As far as install goes, very easy to do, just takes some time. Set a weekend aside for it. If you ever want OBA afterwards using their ear-mount compressor, holler at me, I have some homemade bracket patterns for it.
superzuki 07-03-2002, 08:52 AM Thanks for the input. I have another rig for real wheelin'. The TJ is just a driver and trail cruiser. AC would make things nicer. I'm all for open-air wheelin' in the rough, but the whole idea behind my TJ is to create comfortable dual-purpose rig. I just can't drive something that isin't somewhat capable offroad.
I kinda figured the TJ air was pretty simple to install. It looks like a pretty self contained unit.
Are the 97's and 98's the same?
Besides the underhood stuff what all do I need from inside. The control panel and what else??????
Thanks
Jas
you need the complete heater core and evaporator box under the dash the whole unit.control pannel,dryer,lines,condensor.switches,compressor.. .and drive belt a longer one
and no ofeense but dont buy that shit aftermarket crap had a jeep once with it damn fucking thing dripped water on me constantly they are copied from the older style cj a/c.factory ones worked well but you have a tj all you have to do is get the componets hook them up all the wiring is there and the computer will know automatically to run it.retard proof:D
superzuki 07-03-2002, 09:17 AM Retard Proof????
I might have a chance.......
Now- If I can just find a wrecked 97-98 TJ with AC....................

it might be a beautiful thing but, air is not needed on the trails with no top on........ there is no room for a york and ac in my ride due to more important mods than damned ac :flipoff2: also way too much cash blown on ac when it could go to better stronger parts :D
