I'm sure some of you have built your own Sammy roof racks and I was wondering if you could help me out? I need a simple rack to haul my kayaks, I basically just need 2 crossbars that will be able to carry about 150 lbs. I think 1" sq tubing should do the job but I need some ideas on where to mount it so that I can still remove/replace my soft top. I plan on using my rear bumper for the rear mounting points but don't know where to mount the front; windshield braces? door hinges? Would I need an attachment point in the middle as well? Just looking for some ideas. Also if anyone has any pictures they could post or email me bord42@hotmail.com I would appreciate it!
