well ive dont a diy shackle flip on my 83 chevy k30 and now im putting on 4 inch lift springs on that also, i was wondering that because of the shackle flip if i put on the leaves the normal way will it kick the pinion up too high? should i put the springs on backwards to keep the pinion low or will that be too low?

Thanks
Steve

you may have to adjust the pinion angle the old fashioned way. by cutting the spring pads, rotating them on the housing, and rewelding them in place properly. This would give you the correct angle. using tapered shims is easier, but a bandaid.

do a search for 'zero rate' on here.

turning the springs around wont help you either.

i ran that same setup, i have shackle flips with 4in lift 56" springs and i turned my wedges backwars, now my angle looks good. But i also made a 1" drop mount for my carrier bearing. Those springs don't mount exactly in the center so just turning them around will cause you more problems

ya the springs are offset in the center, tahts why i thougth if i turn them around then the pinnion will be pushed down, but i didnt know if that would have any ill effects

tuff country springs by the way
