After many. many weeks of only working on my house -- I got some quality Scout time today (The wife was sick, free day for me!).

Finally finished my 1350 rear driveshaft -- I have had a 1350 yoke at the axle for over a year, and a 1350 yoke for the t-case sitting on my work bench for about 6 months -- just never got time to build the shaft. Got the 1350 yoke for the D300 from High Angle -- they seemed to have the best price. Got the rest of the parts from around the garage and the junk yard. Cut - weld - paint - install.

I had a bunch of buddies cycle through my shop. One was prepping his new SOA D44s for his Scout, a few came to drink my , one needed some tube for his tierod, and one or two came by to motivate/lend a hand with a little project.

Asse, bled my new blast cabinet... some assembly required is right ..

and that project...

Picked up most of my race 304 from the machine shop on friday... rest should be ready tomorrow or tuesday.

Pulled out a stuck snowplow at lunch today with the 73.

Went to a friend's house who was having a birthday party for another guy. Lots of beer and jawing about the buggies being built for the upcoming XRRA season. I'm not part f the team but I'll be doing my best to make it to the events to support my guys.

I haven't parted out enough IH freezers to get the required quantity of badging yet.

Besides, it has a flat tire.. seems appropriate with the Jeep logos all over it. :)

Went to Eagle River for the Championship Snowmobile Races. Those guys are nuts. Straightaways were hitting 93 MPH, some headfirst into the wall. Left early Sunday to go to Packer game. Pack really blew it. Not sure why Grant didn't run the ball more. Also bought a '67 800 with 266 and plow for $250:smokin:

Drug the bikes and NonPirateScouter over to Sun River for our yearly winter get away. Drank A LOT. Watched my buddies wife snort noodles and then cough them up with the end still hanging out her nose. Awsome. We got a good ride in saturday. 50*, no dust, not a lot of people, neither one of us crashed. It was perfect. Had lunch with some good friend on our way out of town sunday. All in all, it was a damn good weekend. Now I gotta get my junk ready for my 'Huge Bitch Run' next weekend.

Tore down rear D44 to rebuild for my DD. Installed two sets of 8' fluorescent lights so I can actually see in my work room after dark. But, mostly just hung out with my youngest daughter, who was sick.

Took the beast out Saturday for trail clearing out at Long Ranch. The Scout is running a little rough I think the motor may be on it's last leg. Carnage report, my Optima has about given up the ghost, killed one of my limiting straps, and a front d-line. Killed the front hung up on a rock, tore the yoke and killed the yoke at the axle. Patched it back today and finished out the day, plus a night run (always fun). The Scout climbs much better without the weight on the ass end, I can't wait to do the front also.

Sean, didn't you just rebuild the motor a week before Carlisle? You couldn't have blown it, these are the fist wheeling pics i've seen in a while from you:flipoff2:

I finally fixed my ignition problem, converted and old 12v drill to use jumpers for a truck drill, and did some other little stuff.

Started on a movie about a real life gangster set in the 1930's. May be working 7 days per week till June. Found another orig SSII in a local boneyard, 4th one I have come across over the years. Will have to let it go, no time to even strip the SSII stuff, even had to pass on the vgc dashpad with the grommets

Finished up playing in the woods for two weeks for the army on saturday. Drove 1100 miles home Sat afternoon/sunday morning. Lounged all day sunday while washing all the PA stench out of all my gear. Monday did some running around, played with my daughter, and spent a little too much time at the gun shop plotting my next build. Today I'm fixing a toilet, and uhm, uh, yeah I don't know what else I'm going to do today.

Organized and drew up some plans for the Baja Racer's suspension. Cleaned up the chassis. Did some research, got some ideas for the dash and interior. Worked around the house. Watched kids, the normal stuff.

Has Tom talked to you about swaybars yet? I told Tom I'd kick down a pair but was waiting to hear back from either him or you. Let me know as I need to order swaybar parts in and would like to have hit parts on my order to save shipping costs.

Sure did. I said to get them, the thicker = the better. This thing aint going to be built for flexing much. I also started cleaning up the frame and looked at the PS area and said, 'That'd be a great spot for one of Jeffs weld-in plates'. So if its on the table, I'd really like to get one of those too.

I've got the frame pretty much cleaned up, and the link system should be going on soon. DOM is ordered and should be here today as well. I'm sure Tom and Rob want to get the chassis up there for finish work soon. I think Rob has an aluminum guy.

I just talked to a buddy, hes going to strip a scout hood of all its bracing for me. Should make that thing LIGHT! Everything's coming together on this chassis. I really appericiate the help!

I agree that this rig isn't and doesn't need to flex but have good suspension travel. I'll get some thicker 1" swaybars ordered for the front and rear and get some of the aluminum swaybar arms ordered with the stronger steel inserts. This combination should help immensely when cornering. I'll send you one of the steering box plates as well(BTW-those are RPT = Mike, not me=CPT).

Let me know if there's anything else I can help out with. Sounds like a fun project!

The F-150 I helped work on would break off the shelf sway bars almost daily. We finally had Jack at CTM build a 35 spline, 1.5" chromoly unit. I dont know how heavy or how fast your gonna be going but 1" might not be enough.

Good info to know. I was almost thinking of going larger but I have only played with the 3/4" and 1" bars. I'll get together with Tom and Damian before ordering anything in.

I'm up to your recommendations. I mentioned to Tom about bigger ones, but anything is better than nothing. Since this rig is running higher-than-normal spring rates anyway, I'm not sure if breaking the 1" ones will be a problem. I'll trust your and Toms recommendations and will use whatever you send in this regard.

Thanks again for the help Jeff. I look forward to building this truck.

Sat. Was derby car racing, I started volunteer last Sept for Royal Rangers ( like boy scouts) to a bunch of wild second graders. One of my boys got first place in his division:smokin: My car got 4th in my class, them seasoned vet's got a leg up on me:mad3: next year:evil:
Sun work on a handicap ramp railing. The guy paid me in advance and has been after me to get it done asap. Since it was not raining, I got most of it done.
Mon. I worked. But I had to get something Scout related done. So I looked over the check list and saw I needed to add a rear axle vent. The hole was tapped from last weekend, so I dug through the tool box and found a brass fitting and screwed it in whew, just made as it was like 9:30 at night.
Still can't check it off, could not find any tubing. :shaking:

Fri:Went to House of Blues and visited some friends. Walked through chic crap, Don't ask.

Sat: Replaced power steering pump for '73 Suburban unit and solved my volume issues with the old fullsize IH style pump. Also trimmed the endcaps and fenders on the trail rig.

Sun: Got some things together and loaded for wheeling on Friday.

Cant wait to change the old rear body support with tube.....

Had drill this weekend, nothing too exciting, found out we're not being deployed now. So I put my name on the list for another unit being sent over to the big sand box. I need the money!

I was at the hardware store and they have precut pinewood derby cars for sale, you just finish it off. when I was a kid I got one and it was just a block of wood. I ran 2 heats and was out. :(
