i'm still thinking about running propane on my rover. my question is; what would be the best ignition setup to run with this. it's a 96. i'm looking for the most reliable, most water resistant setup.

perfect, that's what i was looking for. i knew i had seen it before, but didn't remember where. thanks. for people in the US, what do you think the most robust 4 cylinder coil packs are?

another question. i haven't done much reading on the EDIS-8 setup or the Megajolt yet, but how difficult would it be to adapt this to use individual coil packs? i guess it would really be up to finding performance coils that when run in parallel had roughly the same impedance as the stock coil packs. then getting them in the right firing order.

Over here the Gen-1 Ford coil packs (where the HT leads actually latch onto the towers) are the preferred option. I think they used the same thing on the V8 Fords over there so you should be OK.

An individual coil pack is a coil ;) but yes you can run coil-on-plug (COP) just by joining the wires for the two paired cylinders in parallel, although frankly I'm not sure you gain anything except more wires. There's been some talk of using the EDIS-8 to trigger COP coils with built-in igniters (LS1 coils?) but this just seems to be overcomplicating things to me, EDIS-8 works well as it is and is pretty damn solid & waterproof.

Firing order and all that is in the LR4x4 thread above, but for the lazy of clicking here's the connections:

Pairs are:
1-6 (Coil A)
8-5 (Coil B)
4-7 (Coil C)
2-3 (Coil D)

That poor old distributor looks lonely over there by itself!
