Hi chevy guys. I am using some 7 pack 56" springs on my non chevy project vehicle. I want to reverse my springs so the center pin (which isn't center at all) is moved forward thus moving my axle forward. will this have any adverse affects on how the suspension articulates. my stock spring actually have almost dead nuts center pins. another question why does chevy do this? Thanks

You can use the springs either way, stock location or flip the springs to give slightly more wheel base.

I have no idea why they offset the center pin??

I don't know why they did it, but the way you want to do it is the way they are from the factory. I run mine with the long side forward, opposite of factory.

They did it so they could run longer springs in heavier duty vehicles without too much modification. The front spring hanger stayed in the same location and the rear one moved backwards on the frame.

I'm putting in 56's right now, short side forward so I dont have to fawk with my drive shaft. Wheel base stayed the same. If I remember right there was over 3" difference.

what i was thinking when i first read this seems like its confirmed by other's post .. . . the axle is already moved forward as far as it can be if your using it on the rear . . . .thus if ya flip it the other way you will lengthen the wheel base and move it back . . . . unless your talking about using em on the front and have the short side to the back . . in that case ya could flip em around to move the axle forward . . . i'm not sure that spring eyes are the same on both end.. . . you could also add a zero rate from diy4x or offroad design and can push the axle forward or or back an inch . . other then that don't know what to tell ya

Turning them around will probably effect your caster and pinion angle, you might want to check into that before changing it around.

you are correct sir.

yup if you have the short side forwards it will push your stuff back.
