Hey guys,
I picked up an old kayline softtop the other day really cheap. Its basically been in a box for years so it's in great shape, and I have ~most~ of the hardware....
I just wanted to clarify on how it attaches to the top of the windshield.
I have a bikini top on there now, and it has pretty much the same bead along the forward edge, that gets slid into an aluminum extrusion that I attached to the top of the windshield frame.
but with a soft top, this would be a pain in the ass, having to slide it in from the side, you'd practically have to remove the whole freakin top to slide it out and lower it when you wanted to.
So, did they have some other system for holding it down or is that basically it?
thanks,
ryan

If it's a fast track, you don't screw the aluminum extrusion to the
windshield, there's a metal strip that the extrusion slides under, leave the screws loose.

well I don't really know if it's a fast trac or not, I suspect not, as the fast trac is a fairly recent thing isn't it?
I'll probably end up just using the aluminum extrusion that's already on the windshield for it.
tho I may try cutting a small secton out of it , so that I can sorta slide the top out towards the middle and not have to drag the thing all the way over to one side to get it out.
cheers,
ryan

Sea Spud: If it is a fast track it will bolt down to the lip of the tub and all of the bows and braces will lend themselves to all fold back nice like a confertable top nice and neat:)
